Position: Associate Director, Product Software Engineering
Job Description:
As Associate Director for one Line of Business portfolio, you will be responsible for the development of a suite of products within the Tax and Accounting business. You are responsible for providing leadership and guidance across Architecture, design, development and DevSecOps.
Leading a department of 80 people, you will align the development standards across the product groups, create robust product roadmaps in conjunction with the Product management group and ensure effective delivery in line with plans.
Additionally, you will collaborate closely with technology teams across the tax and accounting Europe business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Development strategy: You evaluate information and software products to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices. You monitor development processes, framework adoption, and project surroundings to ensure adherence to modern architectural patterns and standards.
Team Management: You lead and manage a team of ~80 software engineers, providing guidance, direction, and motivation to achieve team goals. You will foster the development of strong and cohesive software engineering teams, encouraging collaboration and mutual support. You coach and develop team members, providing opportunities for skill growth and career advancement.
You Conduct performance evaluations of team members to recognize achievements and identify areas for improvement.
Strategic initiatives delivery: You develop objectives and strategies for software projects in alignment with overall business objectives. You estimate the resources required for projects and collaborate with other departments to meet project needs and make critical decisions related to project prioritization, resource allocation, and technical approaches. By managing development costs and departmental budget for the technology group, you make sure your budget is under control. You can solve complex problems and provide innovative solutions to overcome technical challenges in product development.
Stakeholder management: By establishing and maintaining positive interpersonal relationships within the team and across departments you work and communicate effectively in a matrixed organization with supervisors, peers, and subordinates to ensure alignment and collaboration within the organization.
Qualifications and Skills:
A bachelor's or master's degree in Information Technology or a related field
Minimum 10+ years relevant experience working within product software engineering.
Minimum 5 years of work experience in team management
You have in-depth knowledge of agile processes and principles such as Lean Agile, SAFe, ...
You are critically analytical and are able to develop a clear vision
You have strong proven people management and communication skills
You are very customer-oriented
You have experience in guiding successful change processes
You are naturally very eager to learn
You are fluent in English, knowledge of Dutch and/or French is a plus
