Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$111,000 - $162,800

Organization Overview:


Eli Lilly and Company is dedicated to bringing innovation to patients and is growing its manufacturing operations significantly to meet the demand for our medicines.  As a result, our Global Quality Analytical & QC Operations (AQCO) team is also growing.

Associate Director/Director Project Management will work across AQCO, development and manufacturing functional areas, Lilly internal sites and Contract Laboratories to support analytical methods installation for both drug product and drug substances. In addition, Associate Director/Director Project Management will support automation, platform development and variety of strategic initiatives to accomplish AQCO strategic vision and transformation.

Detailed responsibilities:

Project manage technical transfers to internal or external manufacturing/ laboratories.

Develop, manage and facilitate technical agendas for analytical governance teams.

Manage and track laboratory governance projects.

Support the analytical teams in developing strategies and implementing operational plans to deliver analytical commitments.

Resolve issues with the cross-functional project teams and appropriately manage through analytical governance.

Encourage appropriate risk taking within the team by leading risk assessments and contingency planning at the team level.

Ensure strategic alignment with Business Unit and Manufacturing partners.

Effectively manage upward and cross-functional communications.

Understand the commercial needs/drivers for the technical projects and ensure that they are consistent with the overall technical agenda.

Build and maintain effective teams: motivate, recognize, coach & mentor team members and associates.

Gain and share learning and optimized practices within and across teams.

Document key team information and decisions and ensure project management systems are up to date (MS Project, SAP, etc.).

Identify and monitor critical path milestones and projects.

Actively track leading indicators of teams’ progress to major milestones.

Participate in and/or facilitate governance forums and/or steering team meetings

Basic Qualifications/ Requirements:

BSc or MSc in chemistry, biology, engineering or equivalent scientific degree.

6+ years of experience in development, manufacturing and/or quality.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

Experience in analytical development and/or QC within pharmaceutical manufacturing highly desirable.

Master’s in project management, PMP Certification, or MBA would be beneficial.

Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional teams

Demonstrated project management experience

Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong problem-solving skills, self-management and organizational skills.

Additional Information:

Ability to work 8-hour days – Monday through Friday, hybrid, Indianapolis, LTC- North

Ability to support processes outside of routine working hours, as needed

Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time (both domestically and internationally)
