Organization Overview:
Lilly is currently constructing an advanced manufacturing facility for production of API molecules located in Lebanon, IN. This facility is Lilly’s largest investment in manufacturing capacity and is intended to provide APIs for current and future products. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the leadership team for the startup of a greenfield manufacturing site, and the successful candidate will help to build the organization, the facility and the culture to enable a successful startup into GMP manufacturing operations.
The Associate Director Supply Chain provides leadership and direction to the site supply chain organization to enable reliable supply of product to all customers. The role is responsible for supply chain planning, buying, customer service, logistics, and SAP master data and system support. The Associate Director Supply Chain convers forecasts into integrated production plans that provide optimal inventories and incorporate effective contingencies to manage risk. The role is also responsible for recommending and maintaining inventory and safety stock strategies and ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies. The Associate Director Supply Chain is responsible for developing the skills and leadership ability of the Planners and Supply Chain staff through direct leadership, mentoring, technical and business training.
The Associate Director Supply Chain is a member of the Lilly Lebanon API Manufacturing Site Lead Team. The Lead Team has collective responsibility to develop and implement the strategic direction, organizational capability and management of the site. Primarily, the members of the team drive the site toward achieving long term business objectives; they continuously develop the business and the organization for the future bearing in mind corporate objectives and the continuously changing external environment; and they manage issues that span multiple teams in the organization and extend into the broader corporate/external context.
In the project delivery phase and startup phase of the project (startup expected 2025 to 2027), leadership roles will be fluid and dynamic as we endeavor to support the project delivery, build a new organization, develop and implement the necessary systems and business processes required to support GMP operations, and build the site culture. This will require significant collaboration, creativity and resilience as the site grows to a full scale GMP manufacturing through start up.
Responsibilities:
Lead the materials and production planning functions for the site. Oversee supply chain meetings to ensure production availability, shipment schedule, and resolution of delays/shortages.
Owns the ROP planning process for the site and integrates Supply Chain requirements into yearly strategic plan and business plan processes
Network globally to share best practices in order to ensure harmonization and alignment between sites. Identify gaps and inefficiencies for improvement.
Govern master data (materials, BOMs, recipes, resources) throughout the site.
Serve as the key point of contact for the Global Supply Chain organization
Direct management of the buying and planning team, providing employees with feedback, performance management, and development opportunities.
Ensure robust processes are in place for buying/planning in order to meet production requirements; own the safety stock strategy for site materials.
Develop process metrics and KPIs that measure effectiveness of planning process, provide visibility to improvement opportunities, and track progress to initiatives and goals.
Have oversight of supply chain and vendor related technical issues and improvement initiatives in partnership with procurement team
Interact with regulators, customers, or other outside stakeholders on business issues or in support of internal and external agency audits.
Specifically during the startup phase of the Lebanon API site (2025 to 2027) leadership will be expected to be collaborative, inclusive, and support the broader team to:
Build the organization with the necessary capability, capacity and culture to operate this facility to the highest standards of operational excellence
Develop and implement the systems and processes needed to run the site, leveraging existing Lilly knowledge and practices where necessary, but also incorporating external experiences and learning
Ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence by supporting lean principles in their respective area
Support the project team as they deliver the facility to the site team, by providing feedback and support.
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree
5+ years experience supporting manufacturing operations, preferentially in a supply chain capacity
Additional Preferences:
Experience with planning process, such as demand management, forecasting tools, forecasting processes, manufacturing orders, bills of materials, etc.
Leadership experience preferred
Ability to work with a team, make independent decisions, and influence diverse groups.
Ability to instill teamwork within the department and demonstrate key interpersonal skills.
Ability to provide innovative solutions to plant, divisional, and corporate issues and leverage ideas from other functional areas.
