Join our External Supply and Manufacturing (ESM) team, a key component of AstraZeneca’s Operations strategy. We handle approximately one third of AstraZeneca’s value of production through external suppliers, ensuring robust supply chains that deliver value.
As an Associate Director Sustainability Projects you will lead projects from initiation to completion within agreed constraints of time, budget, and quality. You will be responsible for both people and budget, shaping solutions and ensuring that business requirements are effectively captured. With a strong awareness of various supplier solutions, you will handle risk, benefits, and value, resolving or increasing identified risks and issues as appropriate. You will ensure that project teams adopt quality and compliance standards, policies, and procedures, supporting project assurance activities.
Projects could include working with suppliers to implement solvent recovery and recycling processes, transitioning to Bio solvents and moving CMO's from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources, experience in these areas would be beneficial.
AccountabilitiesAccountable for the delivery of Sustainability projects/programmes on time and on budget
Develops, follows, and agrees on project plans including activities, resources, costs, roles, responsibilities, and quality assurance
Recommends revisions to projects as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope to ensure timely completion and meeting deadlines
Effectively communicates with project sponsors and ensures accountabilities are clear
Manages relationships with key business partners to ensure business requirements are effectively captured and committed to project objectives
Ensures that impact and changes resulting from projects/programmes are effectively communicated to the business
Builds and leads project teams, communicating roles and responsibilities while encouraging teamwork and collaboration
Effectively applies AZ methodology through following AZ Project management framework as well as ESM Processes
Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
Builds project/programme improvement plans and ensures that project teams provide input
Resolves risks and issues including quality and compliance, raising concerns when necessary
Manages Steering Group expectations
Essential Skills/ExperienceBachelor level degree or equivalent experience
Experience in Sustainability/SHE
Experience of managing projects/programmes or in a similar role
Well-developed organisational and interpersonal skills
Confirmed experience of working with third party suppliers
Experience of working application of policies, procedures and guidelines
Significant experience in and knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, usually including experience in at least two of the following areas:
manufacturing management
supply chain management
product development
quality assurance
engineering
purchasing
finance or commercial
Desirable Skills/ExperienceProfessional qualifications in project management
Knowledge of working within the areas of solvent recovery, renewable energy or API manufacturing would be advantageous
Experience of working in a global organisation with complex/geographical context
Experience of handling ambiguity whilst navigating through it
