Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a skilled Supplier Quality Engineer (Level 1 OR Level 2) to join the Supplier Quality team within Launch Vehicles in Chandler, AZ.

Our Supplier Quality Engineers develop and deploy continuous improvement initiatives for this process to support supply base performance goals in supplier approval, surveillance, auditing, and quality rating. We work closely with engineering, mission assurance, material, and procurement professionals in the entire purchasing process to ensure the highest quality of procured hardware. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality of materials, components, and assemblies supplied by our vendors, facilitating root cause and corrective actions, and collaborating with suppliers to enhance their quality performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain supplier quality metrics and dashboards. 

Conduct supplier audits and assessments to evaluate compliance with quality standards and customer requirements. 

Collaborate with suppliers to identify root causes of quality issues and implement corrective actions. 

Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain. 

Review and approve supplier quality documentation, including quality plans, end item data packets, test reports and inspection reports. 

Work closely with cross-functional teams to support new product development and ensure supplier readiness. 

Conduct training and workshops for suppliers on quality standards and best practices. 

Monitor supplier performance and conduct regular reviews to drive improvement. 

Support the development and execution of risk management strategies for supplier quality. 

Conducts product and process verification activities, monitors supplier quality performance, and drives root cause corrective action analysis for supplier quality issues. 

Supports the maintenance of the approved supplier list and periodically reviews supplier

performance to determine whether suppliers should remain on the approved list. 

Experience in the quality assurance of procured items and the systems which flow-down contractual requirements to a supply base or aerospace manufacturing companies is highly desirable.

Manage supplier requests for waivers, deviations and discrepancy reporting process.
Keeps management apprised of supplier performance, quality status, and risks.

Coordinates and oversees Supplier Quality plan implementation through all program phases.

Actively engages in supplier evaluation, qualification and selection as part of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP) and as new procurements are required on existing programs.

Manage implementation of Supplier Quality processes, including supplier approval activities, source selection evaluations, supplier classification designation (Critical, Key and Standard), development and execution of supplier quality risk assessments and mitigation plans, and supplier quality requirements development and flow-downs.

This position may be filled as an Associate Supplier Quality Engineer (Level 1) or a Supplier Quality Engineer (Level 2)

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

Associate Supplier Quality Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and 0 years of experience

OR

Supplier Quality Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and 2 years of experience; 0 years with Master’s Degree

Required Qualifications for both levels:

Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance, which generally requires US Citizenship as a prerequisite

Experience in quality engineering or supplier quality management.

Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001). 

Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, FMEA, SPC). 

Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations. 

Ability to articulate in the presentation of aerospace hardware and systems problems to technical professionals to initiate resolutions.

Knowledge of discrepant material procedures, i.e., Discrepancy Reporting and MRB.  

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 

Ability to travel approximately 30%

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking and ability to lift and carry 50 pounds for short distances.

Preferred Qualifications:

Degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical or aerospace)

Certification in Quality Engineering (e.g., CQE, CQA) or Six Sigma.

Experience in aerospace integration and/or manufacturing. 

Knowledge of data analysis software and tools.

Experience with complex systems or electromechanical

Salary Range: $63,900.00 - $95,900.00Salary Range 2: $77,200.00 - $115,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
