We are looking for an Associate Food Scientist to join our R&D team in Chicago, Illinois!

This is a great opportunity to begin or expand your career in Food Science! As an Associate Food Scientist, reporting to a Senior Food Scientist, you will bring a food forward and culinary focused mindset to develop new products for the Dolly Parton brand in the bakery space. With a curiosity for consumer demand and food trends, you'll bring your science background to life to create products that are an asset to the bakery portfolio. Working directly with our culinary team, you will demonstrate creativity, collaboration, and a passion for food throughout the design process.

Located in downtown Chicago along the Chicago River, our corporate headquarters is in the landmark Merchandise Mart building, with access to public transit, and several options for dining and shopping in the area.

What you'll do in this role:

Develop new products from concept through successful commercialization.

Conduct plant trials and new product startups, utilizing pilot plant equipment.

Perform experiments and prepare results for analysis.

Develop new products prototypes.

Support the team with product cutting, plant trials, and testing.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or related field required.

1 year relevant work experience inclusive of internships or co-ops.

Requires knowledge in food product design, formulation, ingredient functionality and interaction, process design, product scale-up, plant testing and commercialization.

Bakery experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Work in and around cramped/confined spaces

Climbing via stairs or ladders

Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodic extended workdays including loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, and slippery conditions.

Exposure to food tasting and smells, including all food allergens.

Use of tools, equipment, and machinery

Travel may be up to 30% as needed.
