Associate General Counsel, NA Insurance Join us as a Associate General Counsel to play a highly influential role in protecting our clients and growing our business. Make your mark in Global Legal, Compliance and Regulatory Our Global Legal, Compliance and Regulatory (GLCR) team provides first class advice to colleagues and functions across the organization – ensuring AIG navigates an ever-changing landscape that spans state, federal, and international lines. The team has a multi-dimensional impact, from helping avoid legal exposure to collaborating with other functions to develop cutting-edge new products. Primary responsibilities for this position include: + Providing day-to-day legal advice to surplus lines property and casualty insurance executives and underwriters with respect to transactional, regulatory, legal and compliance matters. + Advising on and supporting business partners with regulatory compliance, participating in product development, conducting legal research, and negotiating, drafting and/or reviewing insurance policies and endorsements, ancillary agreements, including broker agreements, and marketing materials in connection with various insurance coverages. + The candidate will also be expected to work with regulatory personnel to address regulatory matters impacting the relevant business units, including responses to inquiries on insurance regulatory issues, and resolution of regulatory and consumer complaints. Education/Experience: + Familiarity with surplus lines-specific legal issues across property and casualty insurance products, the business of insurance and insurance regulation. + 7+ years of experience in either a law firm or in-house legal department. + JD from an accredited law school and strong academic credentials. + Admitted to practice in at least one state. Skills & Abilities: + Strong initiative and work ethic; + Focused attention to detail and honed analytical, drafting and problem-solving skills; + Strong communication and interpersonal skills; + Ability to work collaboratively with other Legal department colleagues; + Ability to be a self-starter and work independently; + Ability to adapt to changing needs of the organization and/or business clients and to think creatively; + Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment; and, + Sound legal and business judgment.
