Associate General Counsel, Security Legal
**Summary:** We are seeking an associate general counsel to work on Meta’s Central Security Legal Team, with a global remit to support Security, Safety, and Integrity equities worldwide.You would bring international criminal justice experience, with a firm grasp of the regulatory landscape in the United States, Europe, and around the world, as it impacts internet service and social media providers. You should work effectively both independently as well as with large multi-stakeholder cross-functional teams. You will exercise legal judgment, executing quickly under tight time constraints, strategic thinking, solid communications skills and be proactive, flexible, collaborative, and diligent.This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic team and to work on novel issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment. **Required Skills:** Associate General Counsel, Security Legal Responsibilities: 1. Identify and advise business and product partners on legal obligations globally relating to data disclosure and platform safety and integrity, including child safety and other serious crimes. Advise on advancing opportunities to drive platform and user safety and security globally. 2. Provide advice on the processing of legal requests for user data, and manage the litigation of matters implicating user data disclosure in criminal investigations and civil matters. 3. Work closely and creatively with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Policy, Communications, Engineering, and Business Operations in reviewing and addressing governmental regulations, agency guidelines, and policies. 4. Manage effective relationships with key government agencies, regulators, law enforcement agencies, and industry peers in close collaboration with internal cross-functional teams. 5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on adoption of open-source artificial intelligence platforms. **Minimum Qualifications:** Minimum Qualifications: 6. JD degree (or foreign equivalent) 7. Active membership in at least one US state bar and eligibility to obtain registered in-house counsel status (if required by the State Bar in the assigned work location) 8. 6+ years of legal experience, including government, in-house and/or law firm experience advising technology companies. 9. Substantial experience with U.S. law, including the Stored Communications Act, Wiretap Act, Pen Register/Trap and Trace Statute, as well as understanding of major EU laws regarding data disclosure and content moderation, including familiarity with the European General Data Protection Regulation. 10. Experience working with U.S. and international law enforcement authorities. **Preferred Qualifications:** Preferred Qualifications: 11. Prior industry experience, advising private companies on privacy and law enforcement matters. 12. Knowledge of international human rights legal landscape, including standards on freedom of expression and privacy. 13. Experience analyzing and reviewing emerging regulations relating to technology companies, including content moderation and safety. 14. Experience advising on artificial intelligence platforms. 15. Experience counseling on compliance with government security frameworks and requirements for systems and networks. 16.
