Associate General Counsel

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an Associate General Counsel that synergizes efficiencies without boiling the ocean while maintaining bandwidth and breaking down silos with paradigm shifting bleeding edge core competencies… KPIs will include but not be limited to sense of humor, rapier wit, and appropriate appreciation of sarcasm, movie quotes, and/or mundane legal tasks.

Maybe just as important, the Associate General Counsel reports to the General Counsel and primary responsibilities will include:

Cavco’s Compliance Program; Oversite and facilitation of internal investigations; M&A Due Diligence; Entity Management; Various corporate/commercial projects as assigned by the General Counsel (including EEOC Position Statements); and Working in a team environment to find solutions to unique organizational challenges on a consistent basis.

The Associate General Counsel will routinely work closely with multiple teams throughout the company and must have the ability and desire to develop great relationships with people working in Executive Management, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Finance, IT, Operations (Manufacturing and Retail), and Financial Services.

The right person for this role will combine a high degree of professionalism with humility and a service mentality. You must work well under pressure, find creative solutions to challenges, clearly document and articulate your thoughts, and ultimately be able to influence changes within a large and disparate organization.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Attention to detail Demonstrate commitment to the highest ethical standards, including ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information Develop and execute all phases of an investigation: fact gathering; review and analysis of data, information, and records; conducting interviews of employees at all levels; root cause analysis; report writing; and corrective action monitoring Preserve confidentiality or privilege and follow procedures for fact-gathering, document reviews and witness interviews Collaborate and consult with both internal and outside counsel, as needed Initiate and execute policy awareness and disclosure campaigns, using a precision approach to engage the target audience Contribute to preventive discussions arising from regulatory changes and investigations, identifying opportunities for improvements Analyze investigations data and metrics for themes, trends, control issues, and root cause identification and share findings and potential mitigating strategies with key stakeholders Oversee control systems to prevent or deal with violations of regulations and internal policies Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal governance policies and procedures Develop and deliver effective and engaging training and education to the business Both lead and participate in key corporate committees Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control Support the integration of acquired companies into Cavco’s compliance program Maintain necessary professional certifications, professional association memberships via ongoing education and training

 

NICE TO HAVE

Prior experience in employment law and/or working with the EEOC; Prior experience in-house with a large private or public company’s compliance or legal team

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICIATIONS

JD from an accredited law school. At least 7 years’ experience performing similar functions in a corporate legal department or law firm. Proven ability to prioritize and organize work and to respond to communications and requests in a timely manner. Ability to multi-task effectively. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to get work done on a deadline. Proven ability to produce accurate work product. Strong attention to detail. Strong ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Required: Intermediate/Advanced skills in Word. Demonstrated understanding of handling confidential or sensitive matters. Demonstrated ability to handle a wide variety of corporate matters and has a good understanding of processes and procedures related to corporate governance and entity structure and maintenance. Ability to manage duties and additional projects assigned within specified timeframes with little to no supervision. Proficiency with hotline software (preferably Convercent/OneTrust), Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive)
