Find out more at www.TransdevNA.com or watch an overview video at https://youtu.be/ilO5cv0G4mQ   About the Role: The Associate General Counsel – Litigation provides legal support for all aspects of the Company’s litigation matters (auto, general liability claims including some employment related litigation) as well as identifying and coordinating internally to roll out targeted trainings and safety initiatives in order to reduce future lawsuits of all kinds.  The General Counsel is ultimately responsible for all litigation matters at Transdev.  This role works in conjunction with the General Counsel on all litigation matters (with the exception of workers comp and employment / labor issues) and supports the General Counsel on a day to day basis.  Annually salary range: $180,000-$220,000 Benefits include: Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeksSick days: 5 daysHolidays: 12 days; 8 standard and 4 floating Other standard benefits: 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental and vision, life insurance, short-term disability, voluntary long-term disability. Benefits may vary depending on location policy. The above represents the standard Corporate Policy. Key Responsibilities:Support Safety and Operational teams to ensure Transdev maintains best in class safety and regulatory policies, programs and practices.Responsible for alerts and handling of all major safety incidents; as well as internal reporting and coordination with outside counsel related to incident response.Primary responsibility for Company’s Auto and General Liability claims litigation portfolio including outside counsel management; post-incident remediation measures and related considerations; internal reporting on high exposure/key matters; and development of strategies to reduce/mitigate claims.Provide strategic oversight of all litigation including attending depositions, trials, mediations and settlement conferences, as well as provide oversight and input in case discovery (written and oral) process.Support the Company’s Risk Management team in the management of claims third party administrator’s (TPA) performance; review TPA reports and provide key takeaways to senior management; attend and participate in periodic claim review roundtables. Work in close partnership with Company’s Finance and Insurance teams to manage coverage program, assess proper case reserves and related actuarial analysis.Analyze safety and claims data to identify trends as well as opportunities for improvement within and throughout the organization.Provide safety, investigation and claim related counsel to the field as well as conducting field safety training.Manage the Company’s subpoena response process and drive best practices and efficiencies regarding same.Assist the General Counsel in preparing presentations, coordinating on data presentations, conducting (from time to time) presentations for various stakeholders within the company, explaining/discussing and managing litigation matters generally as well as being responsible for coordinating, planning and running monthly risk meetings (in conjunction with the General Counsel).This is a senior role within the department so a deep understanding of company finance and the ability to speak persuasively is key to success. Education, Licensing, and Certifications:Bachelor’s Degree and JD from accredited law school with admission to one or more state bar (Illinois preferred). Experience Required:Minimum of 10 years of legal experience including general casualty litigation experience. Law firm experience highly preferred. In-house experience managing a national liability claims program preferred. Workers’ compensation experience a plus. Skills and Knowledge Required: Demonstrated independent management of significant claims litigation portfolio including direct management of outside counsel.Experience managing a national, commercial liability claims program preferred.Prior experience managing internal and external counselTransportation and related safety and regulatory experience preferred.Inhouse experience required, including interaction with C-suite.Superior analytical skills and judgment required.Can responsively prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast paced, dynamic and time sensitive environment.Self-directed individual with ability to work independently yet also work collaboratively within a highly matrixed internal client base.Demonstrated ability to synthesize complicated legal and business issues into practical and effective guidance.High degree of integrity and intellectual curiosity.Attention to detail and high level of responsiveness required. Travel requirement outside of immediate area (as a percent): 30% Pre-Employment RequirementsDrug testing and background checkTesting related to job requirements Physical RequirementsMust be able to manage flexible work schedules; long and/or irregular hours may be required in cases of accidents, emergencies or natural disasters.
