RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct thorough exploratory research on businesses, projects, individuals and significant events using public sources of information such as specialized open source research tools, the internet, and commercial and proprietary databases focusing on identifying areas of potential risk, including reputational and financial crime risk. Review corporate records, contracts and other documentation, and financial statements. Produce detailed analysis of information that is identified through research, through interpreting and distilling significant patterns, themes, and developments. Verify and corroborate pertinent and noteworthy findings. Write well structured, logical, and objective reports that present research in a client-focused manner and address the clients’ central questions and concerns. Maintain effective time management to meet client deadlines. Identify own learning needs and opportunities and continuously seek to improve performance.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Superior report writing skills. Strong academic background or equivalent professional experience demonstrating a high level of proficiency in analytical research, complex problem solving, and critical thinking. An interest in business and commercial affairs, and specifically in risks faced by commercial organisations around the world, particularly in relation to exposure to financial crime, such as fraud or money laundering. An interest in national and global events and issues, and their impact on commercial organisations. Advanced Microsoft Office skills, with proven experience in using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.   An analytical, inquisitive, and logical mind, with excellent attention to detail and a rigorous approach to conducting research. Fluent (native or near native) spoken and written English. 

Beneficial:

Full oral and written proficiency in languages other than English, especially Arabic, Mandarin, Thai, Khmer, Indonesian, Malay, Korean and Japanese. Experience of open source research tools, relationship mapping software, and nonstandard research preferred. Experience and skills in using investigative analysis tools, computer programming, or data analytics. Financial fluency preferred; accounting or finance training is critical in certain cases. 1-2 years’ professional experience in a research-related field.
