Position Overview:

Reporting to the Rewards Accounting Operations Manager, the Associate Manager is responsible to manage & independently lead & oversee the Accounts Payable accounting process for the Retail portfolio.  This includes the review of vendor payments/discounts, detailed financial reporting/analysis and solid operational controls for data accuracy.  This role will assist with revenue recognition by participating in the month end, quarter end, and year end closing process and will be responsible to manage, develop & mentor direct reports.

Responsibilities:

Manages & oversees Retail lane product portfolio for Accounts Payable (merchandise, AM Cash – Instant/evoucher, Personal Shopper, Charity partners, Red Label Vacations, etc.).  Review & approve weekly quality control reporting/financial analysis, resolve vendor challenges & pricing discrepancies, ensure timely processing of all vendor payments via EFT, US wires, VCC, etc. as per contractual terms. Includes managing & coaching of 1 direct reportProvide Finance requirements for new Retail initiatives, attend meetings as a Finance ambassador, drive & implement new processes & continuous improvement.  Support contract review for AP requirements, documentation, user training, etc.Prepare weekly & month-end reports, journal entries, data analysis & balance sheet account reconciliations for Retail portfolio. Run required reports for redemption and revenue reporting, reconcile sales & calculate volume rebates, accruals, fulfillment costs/variances, vendor invoices/fees, etc. while adhering to Finance policies & procedures (including sox controls).   Responsible for outsourced merchandise portfolio with NLI Solutions & warehouse fulfillment (NLII).  Weekly review & cost analysis of physical + digital products, calculate and input vendor discounts & COS adjustments, cost/tax/CPM review & tracking.  Analize discrepancies & effectively collaborate with NLI Controller & warehouse Manager to action & resolve operational & billing issues as required.  Provide requirements & support adhoc NLI promo’s/initiatives as required.Support finanical reporting requests & provide insights on findings, lead large data analysis on business metrics/stat reporting, fraud, system defects, etc; Assist with Finance projects by participating in scope & business requirements, system enhancements & testing/validation as required.  Review, prepare & calculate commodity taxes on merchandise products & fulfillment– including PST self assement by province, accurate VAT reporting, ITC credits, credit invoices, etc. Provide explanations for audit inquires and be involved in tax issues as they relate to new business projects.Respond to emails (Care, IT, Rewards) regarding any Retail portfolio issues (payment & pricing discrepancies, debit memos, Collector returns, escalated issues, etc.).  Liaison with IT on RO system issues/file uploads impacting sales flow & financial data.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of directly related work experience with Accounts Payable & Operational Accounting. Advanced proficiency in ExcelExperience with accounting software, Agresso an assetcounting degree/diploma + strong knowledge of accounting procedures & polices.Must have min 5 years of directly related Canadian work experience in operational accounting + high volume accounts payable (with VAT tax exposure) Min 2 yrs direct supervisory & coaching experienceMust be highly proficient in ExcelSolid problem solving and analytical skillsExcellent communication skills – verbal and writtenSelf-starter, experience working in a faced paced environment with high volume.Detail oriented, Dependable, Strong time management/organizational skillsPositive outlook, Lead by example, Team Player

Salary:

$60,000.00 - $111,700.00

The above represents AIR MILES’ pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents AIR MILES’ expected target for the first year in this position.

AIR MILES’ total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
