Random House Children’s Books is seeking an Associate Managing Editor to join its Managing Editorial team! The Associate Managing Editor will act as a project manager on books for children of all ages---toddlers through young adults. The role requires communication with various RHCB departments, including Editorial, Copyediting, Design, Production, and Marketing.
The Associate Managing Editor acts as liaison and title information/scheduling manager for one to several RHCB imprints, with a focus on licensed titles. The position requires extreme attention to detail and great people skills.
Specific responsibilities include:
Liaison with Publishing Director and Editors for assigned imprint(s) Liaison with Production and Copyediting staff on all projects involving assigned imprint(s) Create and maintain data networks for imprint titles Support ebook, proprietary, and licensed managing editorial teams Run bi-weekly status meetings and other project planning meetings as needed Review manuscript tagging for consistency, clarity, and accuracy Resolve problems through discussions with editors, copy editors, designers, production staff, and managing editorial supervisor

Minimum 1 - 2 years of experience in managing editorial, production editorial, or project management Expert proofreading skills Ability to work on multiple projects unflustered by interruption Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to organize and prioritize workload to accommodate shifting schedules and deadlines Ability to help others navigate challenging deadlines, assist with their work as needed Highly detail-oriented Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Strong technological skills, especially editing in Microsoft Word. Excel and File Maker a plus Experience at Nat Geo or Disney a plus
The PRH office is located in New York City. The position is open to remote candidates.
The salary for this position is $66,500. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
