Associate Medical Director, Medical Affairs/Ophthalmology

The Associate Medical Director will support the development of our medical strategy, planning & execution of medical affairs activities. This role will provide scientific and/or medical leadership by thoroughly understanding retinal vascular diseases and serving as a key scientific/medical resource. We need a collaborative individual to take on a medical leadership role working with cross-functional teams.
This position is in Sleepy Hollow, NY with an on-site requirement of 3 + days/week. If eligible, we can offer relocation assistance.
**A typical day may include the following:**
+ Medical reviewer on the review committee, reviewing and approving promotional, educational and materials, ensuring medical/ scientific accuracy and balanced representation.
+ Establishes/maintains relationships with key medical experts, researchers, academic institutions, and patient advocacy groups. Will plan/facilitates external medical expert lectures; plans, contributes to, and facilitates Advisory Boards
+ Supports defining strategy, sets annual goals and ensures compliant execution.
+ Participates in and contributes to the cross-functional Medical Impact Team (MIT)
+ Contributes to data generation (post hoc, phase 3B/4), data analysis and interpretation.
+ Participating in the review and approval requests by investigators for research grants and/or investigational drug.
+ Demonstrates medical and scientific expertise and provides direction to core business strategy and marketing/business development plans.
+ Maintains deep knowledge of relevant therapeutic/disease areas and patient and physician interactions, clinical decision making and impact

To be considered for this role, an MD (or equivalent), PhD or PharmD and 4 years of experience in a medical affairs function is required. Additionally, a minimum of 1 years’ experience in the in ophthalmology/retinal vascular diseases.is required. Experience and success in working in a matrix, cross-functional environment is required. We are seeking proven medical communication skills and a detailed understanding of the healthcare environment including external collaborators. An understanding of medical affairs accountabilities for evidence generation, external engagement, and internal advice is required. Is effective in a variety of formal presentation settings: one-on-one, small, and large groups, with peers, direct reports, and supervisors.
