The ACLU seeks applicants for the full-time position of Associate Multimedia Producer in the Communications & Marketing Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York, NY. This is a hybrid role that has in-office requirements of two (2) days per week or eight (8) days per month.
The Marketing & Communications Department creates, maintains, and expands message narratives to engage our supporters and other target audiences, to help protect and expand civil liberties and civil rights, and also illustrate the value and impact of the ACLU’s work. Through our messaging, engagement with newsmakers, our written and social content, branding, and visual identity, we encourage support for the ACLU and help to create a more perfect union.
This position is part of a collective bargaining unit. It is represented by ACLU Staff United (ASU).
WHAT YOU'LL DOReporting to the Director of Creative Services, the Associate Multimedia Producer will primarily focus on video editing and rapid response content creation. This role involves quickly editing and producing videos for breaking news and advocacy moments, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality content. The position also includes organizing video and photography assets in the ACLU’s Digital Asset Management (DAM) system and maintaining efficient workflows for multimedia content. Additionally, the Associate Multimedia Producer will provide production support as needed and assist with video shoots, working closely with teams across the Marketing & Communications, Policy, Legal, and Development Departments to help advance the ACLU’s mission and goals.
YOUR DAY TO DAY Edit and produce video content for breaking news, rapid response, and advocacy moments, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality videos Work closely with the Multimedia team to refine and finalize video edits for long- and short-form content, including explainer videos, documentaries, and social media videos Provide feedback and collaborate on editing processes to enhance the final product Log, archive, and manage video and photography assets in the Digital Asset Management (DAM) system. This includes: Assist in logging, archiving, and managing video and photography assets in the Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, supporting the Multimedia team in developing and organizing asset collections Follow best practices for organizing, tagging, and managing metadata, licensing, and permissions for easy access and search Help deploy assets quickly during breaking news and rapid response situations Support digital asset management efforts by assisting with metadata and permissions tasks for assigned teams or departments Provide support for photography and video shoots as needed, including assisting with video production for the ACLU podcast, At Liberty Optimize video and photo content for platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok Track and analyze video performance metrics across social platforms Collaborate with Marketing & Communications and program staff to identify high-impact opportunities to enhance the visibility of the ACLU’s advocacy, programmatic, and legislative work Monitor trends and emerging practices in video production, making recommendations for innovative content opportunities FUTURE ACLU'ERS WILL Be committed to advancing the mission of the ACLU Center and embed the principles of equity, inclusion and belonging in their work by demonstrating commitment to diversity with an approach that respects and values multiple perspectives Be committed to work collaboratively and respectfully toward resolving obstacles and conflicts WHAT YOU'LL BRING Demonstrated experience in video production and post production Proficient in video editing with strong experience using the Adobe Creative Suite, primarily Adobe Premiere Pro Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills; strong attention to detail, ability to write and deliver work product under deadlines, and commitment to high quality standards Experience handling multiple video and audio formats Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously, often under tight deadlines Must be self-motivated, demonstrate grace under pressure and possess the ability to work well both independently as well as within a team PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience Experience in Data Asset Management Experience using DSLR and professional video cameras COMPENSATION The ACLU is committed to equity, transparency, and clarity in pay. Consistent with our compensation philosophy, there is a set salary for each role based on geographic work location. The annual salary for this position is $92,431 (Level I), reflecting the salary of a position based in New York, NY. Salaries are subject to a regional pay adjustment if authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
