The Centre de l’information (CDI) in Montreal is the beating heart of Radio-Canada News & Current Affairs — the central point of convergence for the news of the day, be it local, national or international.
Today, the CDI is looking for a full-time Associate National Lineup Editor for its digital news service. In this position, you will play a central role in assisting the lineup editor with editorial decisions and the production of content that makes Radio-Canada a trusted news source.
You will be a core part of a team dedicated to continuous digital news production, including alerts and live event coverage in co-ordination with other editorial teams in the CDI and at regional stations.
You will contribute story ideas and support the work of reporters. You will vet content and supervise its publication on digital news platforms in accordance with CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices. You will also help make editorial decisions for the content lineups of all platforms and delivery channels (apps, website, newsletters, social media, etc.).
For reference purposes, this position will be assigned to the CDI based on production needs. It is essential that you be available to work irregular hours (days, evenings, nights and weekends).
Job requirements:
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Five (5) years’ journalism experience
One (1) or more years’ experience in an associate digital lineup editor role is an asset
Skills:
Extensive general knowledge
Excellent knowledge of current events
Excellent writing skills
Good communication skills
Confident, positive leadership
Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices (see our website)
Excellent command of French
Advanced oral proficiency, intermediate writing proficiency and advanced reading proficiency in English
Knowledge of digital trends and formats
Good knowledge of CMSs (Scoop, Picto, etc.) and audio/video management systems (such as Media Composer and Dalet)
Experience working in a TV or radio newsroom is an asset
