Associate Procurement Manager - Logistics

ABOUT UNILEVER

Unilever is in the midst of a transformational project designed to position the North American supply chain to support the growth of the market.  The project includes adding new nodes for production and distribution of Unilever products in North America, including the United States and Mexico.  The Associate Procurement Manager will be responsible to coordinating local logistics requirements for a new manufacturing site in Monterrey, Mexico.

JOB PURPOSE

The factory will require local transportation services to be commercially coordinated such as to and from intermodal ramps and vice versa, pickups and deliveries from over the road carriers, spotting/shunting, shuttle services, transloading locations for bulk chemical raw materials.  The role will not have any direct reports but will serve as an informal leader to peers and key advisor to other managers in the team.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

This role will have direct responsibility for the following programmatic areas:

Collaborate with the project team to receive scopes, volumes, and modes of transit that will be required to support the factory.  

Work with the North America and Mexico Unilever Procurement team to define and implement best practice for movements inside Mexico for safety and security of shipment while in transit.

Conducting market research for local providers in Mexico who offer services such as intermodal, rail, port drayage, truckload, less-than-truckload, dedicated, shuttling, bulk chemicals, transloading, and customs services.

Supporting vetting and onboarding of suppliers that would be new to Unilever for the project.

Cultivate and maintain productive commercial relationships with local suppliers to the factory.

Communicate with stakeholders in Customer Operations, Procurement, and the project team on task status, risks, and mitigation actions to ensure operational implementation by go live dates.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, preferably in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business.5+ years of prior logistics and/or procurement experience, preferably in a Consumer-Packaged Goods company.Experience with project and/or program management skills to design governance framework, stakeholder management maps, timelines and deliverables and summary briefs.Advanced technical skills with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and PowerBi. A strong command of the English and Spanish languages with excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary to effectively interact with all levels of management.Proven abilities in stakeholder management, with an emphasis on listening and influencing.   Experience working with enterprise level logistics systems, such as a Transportation Management System, Yard Management Systems, or Warehouse Management System is required. Knowledge of the modes and key suppliers in the Mexico and North America transportation network.
