Your role

CBC New Brunswick is looking for an Associate Producer to work with the early morning live radio program, Information Morning Fredericton.  This position is based in Fredericton.  The successful candidate must be willing and able to work on the weekend.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter who is tenacious about chasing guests, passionate about telling the stories of New Brunswicker.  As the industry shifts, local news and community storytelling is more important than ever.  You understand the diverse and changing population in New Brunswick and the importance of reflecting all our communities in our content. 

You will further our original storytelling and ensure we are talking about what matters most to people throughout New Brunswick.

Under the direction of the program producer, you will chase and produce compelling radio interviews and stories that provide audiences with the news they need to know each morning, ensuring every day that the program is ready for tomorrow.  You will work as part of a four person team, collaborating with journalists in Fredericton, Moncton, and Saint John to serve New Brunswick audiences.

The Associate Producer does the following:

Generates original story ideas on a daily basis.

Organizes the participation of guests, creative contributors and other participants and maintains contact files.

Develops background, introduction, and line of questioning, conducts or arranges for any necessary research, and ensures the briefing of hosts.

Develops program content including writing; researching; selecting music, sound effects and actuality; and editing as directed by the show producer.

Prepares scripts using the style and format of the program.

Collect and edit interviews and produces tape/talks or short documentaries. 

Obtains studios, crews, lines, uplinks, remotes and other technical and production resources required by the program.

Participates in the evaluation of all aspects of the production.

Shows creative ability in developing content for multiple platforms when required.

In this role, you will ensure that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, immediate and resonate with the communities we serve.  

You will participate in and promote an inclusive and respectful work culture. 

You will innovate and will champion new story treatments and new workflows, and will help create a diverse range of content across the audience experience. You’re not afraid to take creative risks, and you inspire others to do the same.

The ability to learn and adapt, to embrace change, a desire to learn new things.

A university degree or equivalent, with at least 3 years related experience.

A valid driver's license or the ability to get one within a reasonable timeframe.
