Associate Professor

Job Summary: The Associate Professor-PhD will support the graduate medical education, professional employees within the faculty practice plan, medical staff and medical students by working to ensure an environment of health and wholeness.  This will be done, in part, by accessing avenues of support, coordinating support resources to enable them to enjoy healthy, sustainable careers.  This individual will develop and make available resources to working professionals in an effort to ensure a work/life balance.  Associate Professor-PhD is responsible for providing client care and maintaining LLU School of Medicine policy and procedures as well as standards set forth by all relevant licensing boards. Other duties include but are not limited to program marketing, assisting in training new staff, developing educational programs and supporting efforts in strategic planning. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Doctoral degree required. Minimum five years of teaching experience required. Applicants will have an established history as a licensed mental health provider and educator. Desirable skills include culturally competent therapy, a wide range of therapeutic approaches, knowledge of medical training and culture, ability to make educational presentations, interprofessional collaboration skills, dedication to emotional and spiritual wholeness, and commitment to ongoing professional development. 

Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of current technology and educational media used in teaching and presentations. Able to effectively communicate changes and instructions in a professional, effective and positive manner Able to keyboard 40 wpm. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Able to communicate effectively on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.

Licensures and Certifications: Must hold a valid California mental health license, or be license eligible.
