INTRODUCTION The Department of Educational Psychology in the Neag School of Education invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in counselor education at the rank of Associate/Full Professor, with the possibility of endowment. The successful candidate will be expected to teach appropriate courses in Counselor Education and maintain independent research programs and external funding to support research efforts in their areas of expertise. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to lead or contribute to interdisciplinary research grants/projects, produce strong peer-reviewed publications, and participate in outreach and service activities including support of the CACREP process. The endowed chair part of the appointment will be reviewed for continuation at five-year intervals. The University of Connecticut’s Educational Psychology program is regularly ranked among the top of its kind in the nation, per U.S. News & World Report. With nearly 40 faculty members, the department is among the most productive at the University. In addition to the program in Counselor Education, the Educational Psychology department has programs in Research, Methods, Measurement, and Evaluation; Learning Sciences; Educational Technology; Giftedness, Creativity, and Talent Development; School Psychology; and Special Education. The Neag School of Education is one of the top 25 public graduate schools of education in the nation and stands out as a major contributor to instructional and research excellence at the University of Connecticut. With academic departments dedicated to educational leadership, educational psychology, and curriculum and instruction, the Neag School also offers a five-year integrated bachelor’s/master’s program in teacher education and a one-year, post-baccalaureate teacher education program. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Job responsibilities include teaching courses in the CACREP accredited school counseling program; advising graduate students; engaging in research, including securing external funding to support research efforts; supporting program maintenance and improvement efforts; and contributing to the program, department, school, University, and State through service and outreach. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS + Earned Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision or related field from a CACREP-accredited program. + Demonstrated ability to secure external funding. + Relevant counseling experience in K-12 settings. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS + Record of productivity and innovation in academic accomplishments as evidenced by publications and successful funding. + Established expertise and national leadership in Counselor Education. + Previous school counseling experience in K-12 public schools. + Evidence of teaching effectiveness and providing clinical supervision in an academic setting. + Membership and involvement in professional organizations such as ACA, ASCA, and/or ACES. + Active research program in the field of counselor education and supervision. + Strong scholarly record commensurate with the desired rank (Associate/Full), including a record of publishing research in peer-reviewed journals and a record of securing external funding. + Knowledge of the CACREP accreditation process. + Experience advising master’s and doctoral students. + Commitment to cultural diversity and social justice. APPOINTMENT TERMS This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2025. The successful candidate’s primary academic appointment will be at the Storrs campus with the possibility of work at UConn’s regional campuses across the state. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
