JOB DESCRIPTION:
Applications are invited for a full-time faculty position as an Academic Nephrologist in the department of medicine, division of nephrology and hypertension at University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston. We are seeking an outstanding board-certified/board eligible Nephrologist to join a vigorous academic program directed toward the diagnosis and care of patients with kidney diseases, and hypertension. The successful applicant will join a growing team within the division of Nephrology, which has 10 clinical & 4 research faculty members, 5 advanced providers as well as 5 fellows in training. Division is actively involved in research, education and training of residents and medical students. The division oversees the comprehensive spectrum of kidney, hypertension and transplant care at UTMB campuses, satellite clinics, and also provides end stage kidney disease care at affiliate dialysis units.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provide patient care in a clinic setting for General Nephrology patients (practice locations will include Galveston UHC, League City VLTC, and assigned Dialysis locations). This position will be responsible for holding 3 ½-day weekly clinic sessions.
Participates in the consult service and after hours-call service with the other Nephrology Faculty at Galveston Campus and League City Campus.
Participates in the education and training of fellows, residents and medical students.
Participate in weekend rotation for inpatient consults.
SPECIFIC JOB RELATED DUTIES:
Participate in weekend rotation for inpatient consults
Teaching medical students, internal medicine residents, and endocrinology fellows
PREFERRED SKILL/COMPETENCY:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of an ACGME Accredited Internal Medicine Residency program
Board certification/Board eligibility in Internal Medicine and Nephrology
Eligibility for Texas medical licensure
SALARY:
Commensurate with Experience
