Job Overview:
This position is primarily responsible for the instruction of students in the nursing education program; responsible for classroom, laboratory, and clinical or practicum teaching activities in assigned course. Actively supports an outcomes-based learning centered culture through continued professional development for improvement of self and the college in keeping with the College’s learning-centered values and goals. Reports to and operates under the direction and supervision of the Department Chair.
Job Requirements:
Master's Degree in Nursing
Registered Nurse
Provide evidence of recognized professional competence
Working knowledge of the nursing process
Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Must have either proven or presumptive scholarship in subject matter field
3-4 years experience in Education of full-time teaching with at least three years of teaching with the rank of assistant professor at Good Samaritan College of Nursing and Health Science
2-3 years experience in Nursing Teaching faculty will have at least 24 months of sufficient diversified professional nursing experience to support effective teaching
Job Responsibilities:
Participates in the planning and implementation of the course. Reviews and revises content as necessary. Selects audiovisual materials, references and other appropriate resources to facilitate learning. Prepares, administers and analyzes evaluation methods. Coordinates learning experience with appropriate clinical or practicum staff. Attends course meetings. Facilitates the activities of skills lab as needed for the course.
Develops and provides oganized presentations to encompass new concepts, principles, terms and clinical application. Presents in an expressive manner encouraging student contributions. Uses a variety of teaching strategies, and provides assessment of student learning.
Implements clinical/practicum instruction facilitating student attainment of expected clinical/practicum behaviors. Plans clinical/practicum experiences to assist students to achieve course objectives. Supervises students in their implementation of care. Confers with students regarding progress according to established course requirements. Acts as role model when facilitating student learning, and helps them to relate theory to clinical/practicum
Evaluates student achievement of expected learning behaviors. Provides verbal/written feedback.
Supports college operations. Participates in systematic plans of evaluation. Participates in the advisory roll for student learning. Attends college functions. Supports college goals. Serves as a member of a committee, sub-committee or task force in addition to College Assembly. Attends college educational programs.
