Associate Professor of Politics

The Department of Politics at the University of Virginia invites applications for a tenure-track associate professor position for a scholar of American political institutions and/ or American political development. Advanced assistant professors appointable at the rank of associate will be considered. In addition, the successful candidate will serve as Director of the Program on Constitutionalism and Democracy (PCD) for an initial contract period of three years, with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will join a vibrant community of roughly 35 tenure line faculty members and a PhD program with students across the discipline's subfields.
PCD is a program situated within the Politics Department that provides undergraduate students with an opportunity to pursue intensive study of American political history, development, and institutions. The Director provides intellectual leadership for the program and supervises its postdoctoral fellows, in consultation with the PCD program’s advisory board
**Minimum Requirements**
A PhD and 3 years of experience.
**Preferred Qualifications**
Candidates should have an active research agenda, a strong interest in teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, and a willingness to contribute to the scholarly life of the Department of Politics.
