We’re proud to be an industry leader, consistently recognized for excellence in quality and customer service in our stores and online at bn.com.  We are seeking an Associate Project Manager to assist the Store Planning & Design teams with planning, tracking and managing new store builds, existing store remodels and relays, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required standards. The Associate Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating and managing individual projects in partnership with the Store Planning & Design team, assisting with store layouts, fixture plans, and providing support to the Senior Manager, Store Planning and the stores as needed. They can manage change, resolve conflicts, and utilize project management tools such as reports, tracking charts, and checklists. An employee in this position can expect a starting rate between $65,000 - $75,000 annually, depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. WhatYouDo: • Provide support to the Senior Manager, Store Planning as needed • Manage the database of information needed for the Store Planning & Design team • Assist in preparing and managing project schedules/plans and task details for new store builds and existing store remodels and relays • Assist with store merchandise layouts and fixture placement plans • Track and report on progress of projects, updating plans with any scope changes • Assist in managing project deliverables in line with the project plan by establishing and publishing clear priorities among project activities • Meet work standards by following productivity, quality, and customer-service standards • Partner with Store Planning Design team and other departments to resolve problems and establish appropriate action plans as necessary • Coordinate fixture design and development with the Real Estate and Construction team • Facilitate postmortem meetings and create reports upon completion of each project to evaluate its success and identify process improvements • Achieve objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans for various projects; resolving problems. • Gather and disseminate necessary documentation for completion of projects • Record and manage project issues and escalate where necessary • Provide support to store teams throughout a given project as needed • Provide input on the performance of project team members to the project lead • Complete additional tasks as assigned Knowledge&Experience: • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to meet deadlines and be an independent worker • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Teams and Access • Book knowledge / bookstore experience required • Is a passionate reader who connects with our customers, having an enthusiasm for books and for excellent standards of service for everyone in our communities • Is a clear communicator who can adjust his or her style to meet Bookseller needs • Ability to work with cross-functional teams • Is self-aware and understands how their actions impact others • Can push for results positively, supporting Booksellers to do the same • Is a decisive and solution-based problem solver who can maintain high standards and leads by example • Ability to communicate, collaborate, and negotiate effectively and situationally to maximize relationships and garner resources • Ability to learn and operate proprietary software programs • Ability to spend time on the selling floor, which requires physical activity (i.e., prolonged standing, repetitive bending, lifting, climbing) • Availability to work variable hours for early morning, evening, weekend and/or holiday shifts that align with store needs • Ability to engage in overnight travel, and/or significant daily commute distances as the business requires EeoStatement: Barnes & Noble is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
