Associate Project Manager - Utility Coordination

Job Description

As an Associate Project Manager within our Utility Coordination group, you will both lead and participate in a variety of project management activities that ensure the successful completion of project deliverables for complex and high-priority projects.  This position assists our Project Managers by providing high-quality solutions to successfully resolve utility conflicts within our clients’ project area.

The ideal candidate will have connectivity and prior experience with Class I Railroads and DOTs.

Primary Responsibilities include:

Ability to review, interpret, and understand technical plan sets and subsurface utility engineering (SUE) reports and findings.Ability to identify utility conflicts as it relates to client’s project.Ability to work with various utility contacts in order to relocate or protect utilities within the timeline and budget set by client Act as an internal resource to our Project Mangers for all utility coordination efforts.When needed, act as a liaison between our clients and other project stakeholders.Capable of receiving constructive feedback and participating in continuously improving competencies and efficiencies.Participate in the reporting efforts related to project status, submittals, resolutions, and management all financial aspects related to assigned projects.Monitors progress and measures project performance, ensuring deliverable align with established scope, schedule, and budget.Participate in change order requests, executes risk management techniques, and implements strategies to minimize negative financial impact to the project.Coordination with internal staff and external subconsultants to complete all aspects of project deliverables.Collaborate with technical staff and Project Managers to provide technical guidance to clients and maintain a high-quality project deliverable.Develop and maintain professional relationships with a focus on exceptional client service to secure future work.Adheres to regulations and enforces safety standards.Travel to job sites with clients and other stakeholders will be required (estimated up to 25% travel time per week).

Olsson currently has one opportunity for an Associate Project Manager to support our Utility Coordination group.  We are currently considering candidates interested in being located in Phoenix, AZ, Omaha, NE, or Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX.  Candidates outside of these preferred areas may be considered, subject to the candidate’s experience in this field and ability to maintain professional working environment to meet Olsson and client needs.

Qualified candidates must have a valid driver's license and ability to comply with Olsson’s motor vehicle policies.

Strong communication skills.Ability to contribute and work well on a team.Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent work experience (preferred, but not required).Understanding of real estate transactions and agreements (preferred, but not required).Proven experience in utility coordination or a similar role.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining budgets and deadlines.Strong understanding of a construction processes and utility infrastructure.Excellent client service orientation, communication, presentation, and negotiating skills.Solid interpersonal and decision-making skills and the ability to generate innovative and effective solutions to complex problems.Detailed understanding of how the firm operates as a consulting business and committed to driving the organization towards success.Valid driver’s license and a good driving history.Willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel as required.
