Provide strategic leadership and vision, including long-term planning, for the university's growing online learning portfolio and initiatives in both for- and non-credit programs Lead an agile central unit providing design, development, and delivery of undergraduate, graduate, and non-credit online courses and programs, as well as manage a portfolio of third-party providers to ensure academic quality and student success Collaborate with University leadership to develop a new, dynamic, and unified online learning brand across all University online offerings Create and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the highest-quality standards for online offerings are met across the University’s entire online portfolio Collaborate with senior leadership, faculty, and staff across the University’s eleven schools and colleges to develop and implement high-quality online and hybrid programs Supervise the online learning team, with responsibility for the hire, training, professional development, and evaluation of direct reports Manage a diverse team of professionals with wide-ranging job responsibilities and skill sets, including learning architects, instructional designers, multimedia producers, enrollment advisors, student success advisors, financial aid counselors, and educational technologists Lead efforts to increase online enrollments and expand the university's online presence Provide fiscal oversight for online learning initiatives, including budget development and management Stay current on and disseminate emerging trends, best practices, and technologies in online education and pedagogy Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulations related to distance education In partnership with IT, Institutional Research and Strategic Analytics departments, provide leadership in tracking and leveraging data on enrollment, marketing, and other key metrics around online program success Lead the selection and design of technological solutions for online education, involving relevant stakeholders in the process Foster a culture of belonging, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement Leverage technology and innovative pedagogy to create a student-centered culture of belonging for online students Perform other duties as assigned

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                         

Education:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in any field providing training applicable to this position; Doctorate degree from an accredited institution in any field providing training applicable to this position preferred.

Certification and Licensing:  N/A

Experience:

Minimum of seven years of progressive leadership experience in online learning in higher education.Demonstrated success (evidenced in part by enrollment numbers, cohort quality, and student outcomes) in developing and scaling online programs at a major research university.Experience leading online learning in higher education and working closely with faculty to develop online programs while generating excitement for online offerings.Track record of successful collaboration across a complex organization, including with executive leadership.Experience managing large, diverse teams and budgets.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

Strong knowledge of online pedagogy, learning technologies, and best practices in distance education.Demonstrated ability to manage change in an evolving online marketplace.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.Strategic thinker with the ability to lead change and innovation.Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, coordinate and/or facilitate multiple projects and deadlines independently or with limited supervision.
