SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

The Associate Purchasing Manager, Indirect Goods & Services, North America will ensure compliance with company and division-wide purchasing/procurement strategies, policies, standards and practices.  This position will also evaluate and leverage global procurement purchases, sourcing, and inventories to reduce the total cost of procurement and ownership. 

Under the direction of Sr Purchasing Manager, Indirect Goods & Services, NA, this role will manage and oversee the Purchasing function for indirect requirements to ensure organizational effectiveness.  Manage the identification, implementation and alignment of sourcing strategies and supplier capabilities for various categories of spend. Develop and manage strategic business relationships and gain a comprehensive understanding of business requirements to ensure stakeholder objectives are in alignment with sourcing strategies. Identify metrics, tools and processes to optimize sourcing, supplier activities and efficiencies and work collaboratively with team members to prioritize and drive implementation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Ensure compliance with company and division-wide purchasing/procurement strategies, policies, standards and practices.

Ensures that supplier and purchasing metrics are in place and uses them to drive improvements.

Provides analysis and recommendations to management on financial decisions surrounding sourcing issues.

Establish and lead effective network with suppliers and internal customers; Manages ongoing relationships with key strategic suppliers and the manufacturing and headquarters sites.  Works with suppliers to continuously improve the value of goods and services provided with added focus on quality, responsiveness and delivery.

Reviews and processes purchase orders to ensure correctness and accuracy as well as opportunities to simplify.

Identify opportunities for cost savings.

Respond to inquiries from internal and external sources by providing information and or direction.

Participate in negotiations of major contracts and blanket purchase agreements with critical vendors for goods and services, together with the Law Department and business areas.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required for his position.

Education:

Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, Business or a related discipline.

Certifications:

Lean or Six Sigma certification is preferred

PMA and/or APICS Certification is preferred

Experience:

8+ years’ experience in procurement management or equivalency

Medical Device or Pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred

Excellent business acumen, including demonstrated abilities and leadership with financial analyses, business case preparation, NPV, ROI, and data-driven approach

High level of proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite Excel, Power Point, Word and Outlook.

Working knowledge and experience with ERP systems required – preference to those with Oracle ERP experience.

Ability to work effectively with a variety of cultures, people, styles, and personalities.

Experience in leading cross-functional teams and project management.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Must be able to read and write in English.  Must be able to demonstrate comprehension of written English by successfully completing unassisted written tests, including but not limited to, Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures

Experience with the details of legal contracts

Must be able to give and welcome constructive feedback; contribute to building a positive team spirit.
