Associate Research Scientist Part Time Non-exempt (Fenton Lab)
Professor Andre Fenton’s Lab (Center for Neural Science, NYU; https://as.nyu.edu/cns/people/faculty.andre-fenton.html) Is searching for a Part-Time Associate Research Scientist to join their team. Job Summary: The Associate Research Scientist will assist with animal care, behavioral training, surgeries, technical support, and electrophysiological research. This role involves ensuring compliance with animal care standards, performing histology, and collaborating with veterinary and investigative staff. Key Responsibilities: + Conduct behavioral training and testing of mice. + Provide pre- and post-operative care and perform sterile surgeries. + Perform histology and assist with electrophysiological measurements. + Monitor animal health, welfare, and facility compliance with regulations (USDA, PHS, AAALAC, etc.). + Collaborate with researchers to meet project needs. + Train new staff in procedures and protocols. + Inspect facilities to maintain sanitation and animal care standards. Approximately 20 hours per week In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is $26/hr. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer. Qualifications: + Required: BS or MS in Neuroscience, Biology, or related field. Strong communication skills and experience handling mice. + Preferred: Laboratory experience, research project coordination, and familiarity with research methodologies.
