What You'll DoInitiate production documents to include project features by adding appropriate sections and removing unnecessary onesDevelop and format PowerPoint slide decks that supplement live and online educational contentGenerate tables and figures in PowerPoint from text-based educational contentProvide instruction to graphics editors to create complicated figure recreations and illustrationsSelect images from our image database to augment educational contentIdentify the need to and obtain permission from copyright holders to republish imagesPerform quality control checks throughout the content development process to ensure completeness and consistency with product standards and requirementsFacilitate hand-off of material from editorial to web producers and manage the staging review processBecome familiar with house style guide/AMA style guide and editorial processes and proceduresDevelop the ability to ensure consistency and correctness in spelling, punctuation, grammar, syntax, and usage per AMA and Medscape house style; applying judicious substantive and clinical edits, as well as offering suggestions for improving clarity, format, and flow (all while upholding the author's voice) for all online and live educational activity contentDevelop the ability to revise scientific language for usage, flow, and clarity, as well as ensuring facts, data, and scientific units have been used consistentlyFormatting reference citations according to modified AMA styleProviding insight and guidance to other team members on editorial style, policies, and best practicesMaintaining friendly and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders by clearly articulating with an effective communication styleConveying edits and queries using a respectful tone and concise formatContinuously identifying opportunities for process improvementCompleting other responsibilities, as assignedWho You AreSomeone highly skilled in using all features of PowerPoint and Microsoft WordAn effective communicator, both verbally and in writingSomeone with strong team-building and interpersonal skills, and a cultural awareness to build relationships with internationally recognized medical experts and colleaguesSomeone who takes satisfaction in the accuracy and consistency of their workA self-motivated, positive, critical thinker, with a willingness to accept varied assignmentsComfortable in a highly deadline-driven environment, and able to pivot quickly between tasks and adapt to rapidly shifting prioritiesA team player who enjoys working collaboratively with members of other teams and departments, but works just as well independentlyA technologically savvy individual who can easily pick up new software to use Medscape and WebMD applications and content development toolsWilling to work overtime, as neededWhat You'll Need to SucceedBachelor’s degree, preferably in English or medical/science field, or related years of equivalent experienceAbove average expertise using PowerPoint masters, applying animations, and formatting slides according to pre-specified templateEfficient capabilities for developing and editing Word documents and performing image searches1 to 2 years of editorial experience preferred, ideally in a medical communications agency, pharmaceutical company, or pharmaceutical advertising agency, and preferably Web-basedExperience with print permissions and copyright requirements preferredUnderstanding of and familiarity with AMA style a plusStrong problem-solving skills to independently and quickly deal with unforeseen issues to ensure that timelines are consistently metExcellent computer skills that include working on shared networks and cloud-based systems, and a high degree of proficiency using Microsoft Office suite required; web-based data and document sharing sites and authoring tools (SharePoint Online, ReadCube, Accent Library) and project management applications a plusExperience with continuing medical education materials a plus
