What You Will Achieve  

In your role, you will be joining a dynamic group of scientists in the Enzymology section of ADME Sciences within the Department of Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics & Metabolism, supporting global Pfizer small molecule research and development portfolio. Your position will be responsible for conducting ADME (absorption, disposition, metabolism, and excretion) enzymology studies. You will have the unique opportunity to work with project representatives and influence the selection of candidate molecules for drug development. 
 
As an Associate Scientist, you will be relied on as a technical contributor to assess the assigned tasks and make decisions that involve direct application of your knowledge. You will work closely with your supervisor to conduct in vitro enzyme kinetics, drug-drug interaction studies, enzyme phenotyping, and coordinate in vivo PK submissions. You will also author internal study reports and research reports in support of regulatory submissions. Your strong foundation in general scientific practice, its principles and concepts will help in meeting critical deadlines in our fast-paced environment.

How You Will Achieve It  

Apply technical skills to complete assigned work within own work group/project team. 

Provide quantitative analysis of drugs and metabolites from biological matrices by LC-MS/MS.

May use robotics and automation for screening compounds through established assays. 

Maintain up to date electronic laboratory notebooks and records in accordance with Pfizer policy.    

Collaborate with others in the ADME Sciences group to enable portfolio support, troubleshooting, and technology improvement/development. 

Become proficient in utilizing internal software for data management as the recording of data via computer systems is critical and mandatory to adhering to laboratory standard operating procedures.

Qualifications  

Must Have

BS/MS degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, biomedical, pharmaceutical sciences or related field with 0 to 3 years of experience

Excellent computer, verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice To Have

Experience conducting in vitro assays and working in a lab. 

DMPK (drug metabolism/pharmacokinetics) knowledge, cell culture experience, or LC-MS/MS operational experience.

Strong mathematical, analytical and reasoning skills. 

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).

  
 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The position will require the scientist to work in the laboratory, including standing, walking, sitting, and lifting solvents. It also requires ability to perform mathematical calculations and data analysis.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Some travel (a few times per year) may be required to other Pfizer sites.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $54,700.00 to $91,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
