The Associate Scientist, Product Development is responsible for working with lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), cell and molecular biology, and cell culture workflows. The successful candidate will support various research and product development projects, including the development of technologies like GenVoy-ILM lipid nanoparticle reagents. This position reports to the Associate Senior Scientist and is part of the R&D team located in Vancouver, BC, Canada and will be an onsite role. What you'll do: + Perform cell-based experiments and assays to evaluate the biological activity of LNPs in vitro. + Assist in the routine care and maintenance of various cell culture systems, including primary cells. + Collect, analyze, and present experimental data, and contribute to technical documentation. + Troubleshoot experiments, provide training on protocols as needed and identify unexpected data trends. + Ensure laboratory supplies are available and support the overall quality of operation of the cell culture laboratory. Who you are: + University bachelor’s degree or equivalent education (e.g., cell biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences). + 4+ months of co-op experience or 1+ years of work experience in a lab-based environment. + Hands-on experience with primary cell culture workflows, especially primary human T cells and hematopoietic stem cells (HSC). + Familiarity with cell and molecular biology techniques such as flow cytometry, ELISA, qPCR, western blot, and microscopy. + Ability to independently design, conduct, analyze, and troubleshoot experiments. It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: + Reporting and presenting experimental plans and scientific data. + Delivery of nucleic acids to cells via electroporation or lipid nanoparticles. + Knowledge of project management methodologies and statistical analysis of experimental data. The salary range for this role is $68,000 – $90,000 CAD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
