Job Description
Associate Scientist – Protein Therapeutics
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our innovative team of scientists, contributing to the development of novel protein therapeutics. This role focuses on antibody engineering and development, with the goal of discovering transformative therapies for autoimmune diseases. You’ll work in a collaborative and dynamic environment, closely partnering with both internal and external teams, while gaining hands-on experience in cutting-edge protein engineering techniques.

Role Purpose:
To contribute to the design and development of novel protein therapeutics, which will support early research all the way through to lead candidate nomination for pre-clinical studies.
Key Responsibilities:
Utilize molecular biology cloning strategies to design, engineer, and express proteins and antibodies of interestRecombinant protein expression/production, predominantly using mammalian platforms, using small-scale expression processes through to large-scale preparations (e.g., affinity chromatography, and prep-SEC using ÄKTA purification systems)Biophysical characterisation of proteins using SDS-PAGE, HPLC, and DLS, and functional characterisation using BLI and SPREngineer proteins and antibodies for lead therapeutic identification and downstream clinical developmentAnalyze and troubleshoot experimental data to support pipeline progressionStay updated with scientific literature and advances in protein engineering to incorporate best practices into your workIdeal Qualifications:

Minimum Education & Experience:
BSc or MSc degree in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry (or a related discipline) with hands-on laboratory experienceProficiency in molecular cloning techniques and experienced in mammalian cell culture and recombinant protein expressionExperience with protein design, production, and biophysical characterization, including SPRSkills and Attributes:
Strong analytical and practical skills, with high attention to detail demonstrated through academic or research achievementsSelf-motivated and enthusiastic about solving problems and contributing to project pipelinesTeam player with excellent collaboration skills and experience working in multidisciplinary teamsEffective written and verbal communication skillsFlexible and adaptable to shifting priorities, with a demonstrated ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced research environment.Desirable Experience:
Familiarity with sequence analysis or molecular biology softwareExposure to development of protein expression, purification, and biophysical characterization workflowsFamiliarity with approaches to molecular modelling, particularly relating to the design and optimisation of antibody sequencesWhat We Offer:
