Associate Environmental Scientist

Position Overview

Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine monitoring tasks, which include assisting with analytical sample collection, documentation, field assessments, daily/weekly reporting, weekly progress meetings, oversight of subcontractors on occasion, and reporting of information to mid and senior level staff.

Specific Responsibilities

Performs routine, and some non-routine tasks for remediation services in a safe and efficient manner under the direction of a field supervisorCollect samples and maintain documentation in record logs.Assists in testing, calibrating, repairing, and modifying control and instrumentation systems at on-site locations.  Some assignments may be undertaken independently.Assists in preparing required field and office reports of various activities and findings.  May initiate basic reports.Daily correspondence between engineering, project manager, and the client.Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree, Master’s preferred,  in a science curriculum related to the assigned discipline and typically up to 3 years of related work experience.Experience with groundwater, soil, biota and/or surface water sampling is a plusWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite40 Hour HAZWOPER OSHA training course preferredAbility to work in field environment with viable weather conditions: long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; lifting up to 30 pounds over short distances; recurring bending or similar activitiesWillingness to learn and assist on tasks on occasion as needed potentially related to habitat restoration (i.e., wildlife and plant monitoring).Willingness to travel for periods up to a week as neededAbility to work on a barge

Salary Range: $21.88 - $38.27
