In Analytical Sciences in Gaithersburg, MD you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives.  We’re constantly pushing the boundaries of science to deliver life-changing medicines to patients, with a passion for discovery and a pipeline to show for it. Main Duties & Responsibilities: 

In this role, the Associate Scientist will implement analytical techniques to characterize complex biological systems especially with regards to protein structure. He/she will be responsible for providing high quality data to support the characterization of biopharmaceuticals, such as recombinant proteins, bispecific antibodies, and antibody drug conjugates, etc. Attention to detail and the overall quality of analytical results and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment are critical to this position. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, trouble shooting, and/or executing assays using biophysical techniques in supporting the development, manufacturing, and characterization of biopharmaceutical products. Expertise in AUC, CD, DSC, and light scattering is desired. Particle characterization experience using IR and/or Raman microscopy is a plus. The candidate will be expected to make detailed experimental observations, interpret experimental results, and summarize data for presentations and reports in an independent manner. The successful candidate must have related lab experience, excellent oral communication skills, good time management and outstanding multi-tasking abilities.  The candidate will have opportunity to author/revise SOPs, protocols, reports and other relevant technical documents. 

Support product higher order structure characterization using various biophysical techniques, include AUC, CD, DSC, IR and light scattering, etc. 

Keep accurate records of all experiments, results, equipment logs and troubleshoot instruments as necessary 

Make detailed observations, data analyses and result interpretations 

Present and discuss experimental results at group/project team meetings 

Authorize SOPs, reports and other technical documents 

Familiarize with GLP and GMP requirements during biopharmaceutical product development 

Education & Experience Requirements: 

Education:  

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry or Biochemistry an 0+ years of experience 

Required Skills: 

Experience in AUC, CD, DSC, and light scattering techniques 

Strong ability to work both independently and in a team environment 

Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize workload 

Excellent oral presentation and written communication skills 

Desired Skills:  

Particle characterization experience using IR and Raman microscopy 

Experience with data analysis software such as Empower and Openlab 

Experience with biopharmaceutical development in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry 

Knowledge in cGMP, ICH and regulatory guidelines

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $ 66,766.40 - 100,149.60 USD Annual 

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles) or to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
