What You Will Achieve

This is a laboratory-based position within Pfizer’s Vaccine Research and Development (VRD) organization – Analytical Development group.

The candidate assists with development of robust analytical assays in support of early vaccine development for a range of moieties such as mRNAs, proteins, and glycoconjugates. Representative assays include, but are not limited to, cell-based assays monitored by Flow Cytometry, Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISAs), and Bioplex/Luminex. 

The candidate also provides analytical support for bioprocess and formulation development by performing routine/non-routine sample testing.

Your strong foundation in general scientific practice, principles, and concepts will help in meeting critical deadlines. You will be relied on as a technical contributor to assess the assigned tasks and make decisions that involve direct application of your knowledge.

How You Will Achieve ItProvide lab-based assay development support for cell-based assays monitored, for example, by Flow Cytometry; Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISAs); and Bioplex/Luminex.

Support sample testing for process and formulation development, critical reagent characterization, and on-going stability studies.

Analyze and report data. Use appropriate statistics, where needed

Document experiments and data analyses, keeping detailed records and organized notes. Demonstrate diligence and attention to detail.

Provide test conclusions and experiment summary reports in either an electronic or paper notebook, as directed. Deliver to supervisor for review and implement updates as needed for document sign off.

Contribute to authoring technical documents, including development reports, analytical test methods, and method qualification reports.

Read scientific and technical literature to stay current in the field and to bring new and improved technologies to the laboratory.

Deliver daily laboratory operations support.

Qualifications

Must-HaveBS or BA degree in biology or related discipline, with 0 - 2 years relevant experience.

A strong background in biological laboratory techniques.

Proficiency with personal computers, including Word processing, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and relevant scientific software is required.

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Nice-to-HavePrevious experience with developing assays using cell transfection and a Flow Cytometry platform.

Cell culture experience in a BSL2 environment handling adherent and/or suspension cells.

Basic molecular biology techniques expertise (e.g., aseptic sample handling, sample dilutions and titration calculations, preparation of solutions).

Experience with documentation of laboratory notebooks in an electronic format.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $54,700.00 to $91,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
