Associate Scientist - Radiochemistry

POINT Biopharma Global Inc. is a globally focused radiopharmaceutical company building a platform for the clinical development and commercialization of radioligands that fight cancer. Position Summary:

The individual will be supporting the discovery and development of radiolabeling reactions of both therapeutic and diagnostic radiolabeled compounds.  The individual will work collaboratively with internal team members and external partners to enable the supply of radiolabeled compounds for preclinical experiments.

Responsibilities:

·         Perform radiochemistry research and development for discovery stage programs

·         Produce and supply radiolabeled compounds to support preclinical evaluation of novel radioligands

·         As needed, develop new radiolabeling methods and formulations for discovery and preclinical stage programs

·         Synthesize, test and supply radiolabeled compounds for preclinical experiments

·         Provide onsite/remote technical support to external partners

·         Prepare and deliver presentations for internal and external team meetings

·         Author applicable laboratory notebook entries, development reports, manuscripts for publication in journals and patents

·         Other duties as assigned

Basic Requirements:

·         BS/MS/PhD degree in organic chemistry, chemistry or a related discipline

·         2 to 4 years of relevant experience in radiochemistry, radiopharmaceutical manufacturing, organic chemistry, process chemistry, inorganic chemistry

·         Proven ability to work independently with strong organization and excellent written/verbal communication skills

Additional Preferences:

·         Previous working experience in radiochemistry environment

·         Hands on experience with imaging radioisotopes (F-18, Ga-68, Cu-64, In-111, Zr-89) and/or therapeutic radioisotopes (Lu-177, Ac-225, Pb-212, Tb-161) is considered an asset

·         Experienced in quality control testing of radiopharmaceuticals (hands-on experience with radio-HPLC, radio-ITLC and GC)

·         Knowledge of environmental health and radioprotection requirements

·         Good working knowledge of multiple automated radiosynthesizer

·         Proven ability to work independently with strong organization and excellent written/verbal communication skills

·         Demonstrated ability to successfully prioritize projects and manage timelines in a fast paced environment

·         Functional Knowledge of GMPs and applicable FDA, EMA, Health Canada, USP, ICH and PDA guidelines

Physical Demands/Travel:

·         Requires up to 20% of travel nationally and internationally. A valid passport and eligiblity to travel into these countries are required.

·         Requires ability to lift up to 20 kg

·         Requires safety shoes and other personal protective equipment at applicable work area

Work Environment:

·         This position’s work environment is in a Laboratory. Position requires to be onsite during the work week.

·         This role works in a hospital setting and it is mandatory for all employees to complete health screens before onboarding.  In the event the screen results show non-immunity, vaccines may need to be administered.
