As part of MITRE’s Software Engineering Innovation Center, we focus on delivering software across MITRE's sites. We leverage our wide geographic footprint and diverse skill sets to work side-by-side with end users and sponsors. Roles & Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Software Engineer to join our team. This individual will:

Assist in designing and developing software applications by writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code.Conduct unit testing and debugging to ensure software functionality and performance meet requirements.Work with cross-functional teams, including product managers and designers, to deliver quality software solutionsCreate and maintain technical documentation, including code comments and user manuals.Assist in maintaining and supporting existing software applications by resolving technical issues.Participate in developing and executing test plans to ensure software quality and compliance.Follow company policies and industry standards in software development, ensuring security and data protection compliance.The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:Sponsor and End User Collaboration: As part of a team, engage with customers to gather requirements, understand their needs, and work with the larger product team to ensure that the software solutions address their pain points effectively. Perform operations tasks for software such as installation, troubleshooting, and upgrades. Advise the customer on the best use of the software.Design and Development: Analyze user needs and contribute to development efforts ensuring the software meets functional requirements as well as performance, security, and scalability needs. Also contribute to the security and scalability of software through contributions to the software’s IaC, CI/CD, and other codebases.Basic Qualifications:Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience with a related Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of related education and work experienceStrong technical skills, with experience developing softwareBroad knowledge of computer science and related disciplinesCollaborative and able to work in a close-knit environment

Ability and willingness to obtain a Secret clearance are required for consideration

This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site

Preferred Qualifications: Experience developing software in the DoD and/or public sector spaceExperience and working knowledge of software security methods, measures, and standards (e.g. CVE, Unit Test Coverage, Static Analysis)Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure as code (IaC), and other modern software development approaches.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$74,500 - $93,000 - $111,500 Annual
