Role Summary

Northern Trust’s public cloud-based Data Warehouse Solutions (DWS) aggregates NT data and external / 3rd party data into a data warehouse to produce single source of truth and fit for purpose data for client consumption. DWS is a holistic and comprehensive service offering; including technology, infrastructure, strategic data, processes and support to aggregate, manage and deliver data.

This role will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight, quality control and troubleshooting of inbound data from both internal and external data sources which is digested into the Data Warehouse Solutions service offering.

Major Duties

Supports operations of the data ingest processes and ensures quality of inbound data from various sources

Investigates, resolves, communicates, and documents job failures/errors

Completes impact assessment and communicates to stakeholders

Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services

Solves complex problem

Exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information

Provides informal guidance to new team members

Recommends technical solution to handle process failures

Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team

Performs new setups and setup updates for existing integrations for customers

Assists with new implementation testing and troubleshooting

Assists with new integration projects

Work closely with IT Partners, 3rd Party Data Providers, Client Data Specialists and Product Owners to ensure data housed in multiple source systems is coming in on timely basis, is valid and accurate

Monitors scheduled jobs and improve reliability of ongoing processing

Monitors, measures, and enhances ways to improve system performance

Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus

Works independently, requires minimal guidance

Impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities within own team and other related teams

Works within broad guidelines and policies

May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectives

Knowledge/Experience

Bachelor's degree with at least 6 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Analytical and problem-solving skills are required

Familiarity with leading data technologies (Snowflake, FiveTran, DBT, Databricks, Alteryx, Tableau)

A demonstrated ability to quickly learn and master new analytical tools and apply them in innovative ways

Experience with data pipelines using cloud-based tools

Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines
