Locations: Berlin, Connecticut

Under direct supervision and guidance, the Associate Staff Accountant is responsible for the preparation of financial data for Eversource. Provide financial support to Eversource. Responsible for assisting with month-end, and year-end matters, compliance, and other financial responsibilities.

This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office. 

Essential Functions

Assists with the day-to-day operations of the Eversource accounting function.Handles monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.Prepares the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Performs accounting control activities including detailed referencing of support materials and maintaining supporting documentation.Investigates and resolves outstanding items.Performs responsibilities associated with the coordination of financial reports to comply with federal and state regulation.Assists in the interpretation of new regulations and orders relative to accounting matters as well as the assignment of new FERC accounts in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulation, Chart of Accounts, and relevant accounting policy standards.Maintains the integrity of accounting information in the system and adjusts as needed.Update LREC/ZREC program year excel files as contract receipts, returns and sacrifices occur.Create material requests/purchase orders for each contract.Revise material requests/purchase orders for contract assignments (change in owners).Prepare support for journal entries each month for interest, REC purchases sacrifices are needed Review quarterly contract payments in GIS system (verifying proper transfer of renewable energy   credits, rates, and other key terms)Prepare REC quarterly payment files, reviewing and verifying data information with payment request, Maximo database and GIS system.Tracking of performance deposits on each contract through Sundry BillingRefund deposits with interest when projects are in service.Track defaults on project commitments for transfer of deposits to regulatory liabilities.Assist with periodic reports to PURA and quarterly FERC reporting.Perform other LREC/ZREC program duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Strong knowledge of basic accounting theoryStrong knowledge of functional accounting practices and proceduresGood analytical skillsGood oral and written communication skills

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.       

Experience:       

Three (3) plus years of related accounting experience preferably in a corporate and/or public accounting environment

Compensation and Benefits:

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $63,730.00 -$70,810.00 plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
