Purpose of the job
The Team Leader of Bids & Proposals will manage, coordinate and drive the preparation and submission of winning proposals and presentations to the core commercial teams in MillerKnoll. In this role, the Team Lead will work with cross-functional proposal team members to help respond to Pre-Qualifying Questionnaires (PQQs), Invitation to Tenders (ITTs), Request for Proposals (RFPs), Request for Quotations (RFQs), Requests for Information (RFIs) and manage the proposal development process to ensure on-time delivery of compelling, HM Brand standards compliant, and well-written proposals for Herman Miller International.
This position is a part of the IBU International Channel Support based in Bangalore.
Specific responsibilities
The position involves efficient workflow management within the team for content research, content writing, proposal layout & design and producing client-facing documentation on behalf of MillerKnoll in support of an array of our product lines. This role will successfully communicate and collaborate with a variety of internal stakeholders including, Proposal Writers, Graphic Designers, Sales, Dealers, Product Managers, and other subject matter experts, as needed - and thus, is a highly visible role. Some key responsibilities:
Act as the central point of contact on assigned proposals, and lead and guide the work of the Bids and Proposals team. Drive kickoff and debrief meetings, as well as prepare detailed proposal plans, schedules, outlines, and compliance matrices for all phases of proposal development. Responsible for the delivery of high-quality proposals to meet the requirements of our customers/commercial teams. It is essential that the Proposals Team Lead has a good understanding and experience working within a Proposal/Bid Management team with knowledge of the office furniture industry. The successful candidate should also be capable of being ‘hands-on’ in proposal development, management, and review. The Proposals Team Lead will ensure that proposals process is followed and that proposals are compliant with the Herman Miller Brand Standards. The Proposals Team Lead will set performance goals in line with business objectives and hold themselves and the team accountable to meet these goals as part of the IBU team. Oversees the execution of the overall bidding process, required resources/skills to develop proposal content and design, business partner/stakeholder coordination. Ensure development and maintenance of HM International Tender Dictionary, Database/Repository, Presentation/Design templates etc. Manages team workload to ensure the prioritization of proposals is appropriate to meet business demands across the HM International region. Keeps abreast of all procedural requirements associated with the job function and ensure policies are adhered to by all team members. Accountable for highlighting risks in proposals and highlighting to stakeholders/management any proposals that do not meet the business unit’s expectations. Supports Sales to ensure an accurate and clear presentation of all proposals is made to customers in a timely manner. Take the lead in preparing for quality check/review calls. Works with BU’s delivery leaders to ensure we have closed the loop and implement lessons learnt from delivered solutions back into proposals. Keeps team abreast of Herman Miller product/services developments through peer network and formal training. Work with the Design Manager, HR and BU leader, to create clear career progression plans for Bids and Proposals team.

Person profile
Education and experience
8-10 years of experience in supporting Bids/Proposals/Tender response team/programs.
UG/PG degree or equivalent.
Proven ability to work with and manage cross-functional skills/team members.
Excellent written and verbal English language skills
Excellent business acumen – Experience in business, preferably in a multi-national org.
Cross-cultural work experience
Ability to work under pressure, manage time, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Proven experience of design – including high design ability and creativity.
Sound knowledge of the sales process.
APMP/ similar certification would be preferred.
Competencies
Sound written and verbal knowledge of the English language.
Understanding of the business environment and business language.

Can use PC-based word processing / graphic design packages/spreadsheet.
