Job DescriptionThis role is hybrid remote with 60% monthly in-office presence in Mount Prospect, Illinois. (3 days in office per week)
As Associate Technical Writer / Documentation Designer, with guidance of more senior colleagues you are responsible for preparing instruction manuals, warning labels, and other supporting documents for all brands of Bosch Tool Corporation.
You develop instructional content, photographs and technical illustrations that support manual creation, effectively communicating complex and technical product information. Aligning with project deadlines while developing, gathering, and disseminating technical information throughout Bosch Tool Corporation in North America and other regions, you coordinate the release of product manuals and other technical documentation.
Responsibilities will include:
Writing or revising supporting content (manuals, instruction sheets, labels, etc.), producing high-quality and understandable documentation, which is appropriate for its intended audience, for all brands of Robert Bosch Tool Corporation’s products.Working collaboratively with internal teams on product and documentation requirements. Incorporate tables, graphs, illustrations, or photographs to increase users’ understanding of the material.Standardizing content across product platforms and media.Managing the consistency of technical content and its use across departments including product development, manufacturing, marketing, and customer service.Editing and maintaining existing manuals/documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with latest product specifications, product safety, agency norms, and regulations.Adding and managing files in the corporate manual database and safety archive.Attending team meetings supporting the ongoing improvement of technical documentation.Identify new best practices and define improvements to existing processes.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Journalism, or other writing-intensive program preferred, or Associate's degree required.Minimum of 3 years of technical writing experience in consumer goods environment (power tools industry preferred) for product manuals/operating instructionsSolid technical writing skills, including the ability to research and document functionality, protocols and processesKnowledge of product safety related technical writingExcellent writing, grammar, proofreading and editing skills along with strong verbal communication skillsExcellent organization skills, with the ability to maintain schedules and meet deadlinesPersonable with an ability to work well in a team environmentAbility to interpret product specifications, applications and product usage into product safety required textAbility to comprehend technical information explain in lay-person’s terms how to assemble and use power tools; Creative skills and usage of photographs, drawings, diagrams, and charts that increase users’ understandingAttention to detail and accuracyAbility to uncover errors with predefined business specificationsAbility to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organizationSelf-starter with the discipline and ability to work under minimal supervision while keeping records of progress.Experience with Adobe InDesign and CAD preferred but not requiredAdditional InformationBy choice, we are committed to a diverse workforce - EOE/Protected Veteran/Disabled.
