BMO Capital Markets is a leading, full-service financial services provider. We offer corporate and investment banking, treasury management, as well as research and advisory services to clients around the world. #bmocapitalmarkets

This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with multiple aspects of a rapidly growing multi-billion portfolio —spanning trading, client analytics, balance sheet metrics, and optimization—through a technical and strategic lens on the US Delta One Trading Desk. The ideal candidate will have experience trading listed or OTC products in equities or fixed income, with a strong preference for those who possess both trading expertise and basic quantitative skills. However, candidates with deep experience in one area will also be considered.

This position involves close collaboration with Global Prime Finance teams across New York, Toronto, London, and Dublin, fostering cross-regional synergy and efficiency. The role combines day-to-day trading and risk management responsibilities with independent, open-ended projects designed to support the business’s growth and optimization initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

• Leverage quantitative and analytical skills to develop models and tools that identify new trading opportunities, assess risk, measure costs/trade impact, and evaluate trade performance.

• Analyze market trends and structure to uncover new insights and trading signals.

• Share trading and financing responsibilities to generate revenue and manage risk for various desk strategies.

• Price and assess the risk/reward of transactions in line with BMO’s balance sheet optimization objectives.

• Running daily trade and risk reports and researching P&L and Risk Issues with our Quant Team to correct errors or provide clarity.

Preferred Background & Skillset:

• Hands-on trading experience in equities or fixed income, with exposure to listed and OTC products. Background in index and ETF products is strongly preferred, with experience in leveraged ETFs, index futures and total return swaps being a plus.

• Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and derive meaningful insights.

• Experience with programming languages such as Python, C#, JavaScript, and SQL would be a plus but is not required for a candidate with the right trading background.

• Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

• A self-starter who is curious, eager to learn, and willing to challenge the status quo.

• Solid understanding of financial products, including Equities, Swaps, Options, Futures, Stock Loan, and Fixed Income.

This role provides a significant opportunity for career development, with the potential to contribute to new trading strategies and expand expertise in a growing and dynamic business.
