The Associate Vice President of Human Resources reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Human Resources of Adventist HealthCare and is matrixed to the President of the hospital assign. This individual possess leadership qualities that inspire confidence, innovations, appropriate risk-taking, achievement of high standards, and a commitment to patient-centered care.

The AVP of HR Business Partner is responsible for providing strategic human resources support and solutions. This individual will partner with business leaders to drive organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, performance management, employee relations and total rewards/recognition. This individual will also collaborate closely with other HR leaders to develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and programs that align with the system’s mission and values. This team member will also lead and mentor a team of HR professionals to achieve business goals and create a positive work culture.

Strategic Business Partner
• The AVP is a major contributor to business strategy and is a member of the entity executive management team who contributes to key business factors.
• Brings state-of-the art knowledge of HR Best Practices to the entity executive team leadership.
• Ensures HR is viewed as a business partner by contributing effectively and generating alliances with system and entity leadership that enables the effective delivery of HR services.
• Requires system-wide thinking, planning, quality, and service focus.

This individual plays an integral role in creating an environment and culture that supports Adventist HealthCare’s Mission and Values. As a member of Leadership Council, the AVP of HR will develop, plan, and implement HR initiatives and strategies that will support high employee engagement, customer service excellence, employee retention and other initiatives that align with senior leadership’s strategic and operational objectives. He/she will also proactively build collaborative relationships with leaders and staff at all levels of the campus as well as with key stakeholders in the Adventist HealthCare system, and organizations in the greater community.

As an Associate Vice President and Senior Human Resources Strategic Business Partner you will:
• Partner with hospital leadership to both understand service line strategy as well as develop, define, and align HR priorities to support the achievement of these goals
• Collaborates with physician, nursing and administrative leaders to implement Engagement and Patient Experience programs that improve turnover and retention and such as organization design, staff training and other improvement initiatives. Identifies and implements innovative models and best practices to emphasize engagement patient experience improvements. Recognizes and celebrates efforts.
• Develop and sustain productive partnerships with the system human resource leaders in order to properly serve as a trusted advisor.
• Maintain a working knowledge of relevant regulatory issues, professional and industry substantive codes, as well as federal and state laws and regulations and ensure compliance to all applicable
• Oversees Employee Relations and Employee Grievance process in accordance with our mission, vision and values.
• Ensure consistent application of hospital policies and procedures regarding ADA, EEOC, disciplinary matters and recommends changes to policies and procedures as appropriate.
• Conduct presentations to management and executive staff as needed
• Coach the leadership team and HR colleagues to address organizational issues and barriers to employees’ success.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications include:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or another related field. MBA or Master’s degree in human resources is preferred.
• Ten years of work experience in human resources, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Demonstrated ability to team build and facilitate improvement to reach patient satisfaction goals
• Previous experience working with patient satisfaction data preferred.
• Five or more years of management/leadership experience.
• Certification in Human Resource SHRM-CP or equivalent or Organizational Development is preferred.
• Extensive experience in using Baldrige, Lean, Six Sigma or continues methodologies and leadership skills to engage staff and initiate organizational change in areas such as cost reduction, efficiency, patient satisfaction, provider engagement, and other measurable outcomes.

• Work requires the communication skills necessary to direct, persuade, negotiate, counsel, mediate conflicts, and build effective working relationships with peers and subordinates. In addition, must have excellent skills for oral presentations and written reports.
• Excellent interpersonal skills as demonstrated by the ability to work effectively with individuals and/or teams and across disciplines required.
• Work requires the application of analytical and critical thinking skills necessary to resolve problems, manipulate databases, or create reports utilizing complex clinical or operations information systems.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize within limited resources.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday

Pay Range:

$154,699.34 - $232,049.00

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount or if the position is Per Diem (offering a fixed rate), salary discussions will occur during the screening process.
