Posting Number NONAC3471 Job Title Associate Vice President for Budget and Financial Planning Position Title Associate Vice President for Budget and Financial Planning Position Type Non-Faculty Number of vacancies TBD Salary Commensurate with experience Department Office of The Controller Position Summary Reporting to the VP of Finance and Chief Financial Officer, the Associate VP for Budget & Financial Planning is responsible for supervising, organizing, and managing daily activities related to Budget Planning and Analysis, Financial Forecasting and Planning. The AVP plays a key role in creating the institution’s annual operating and capital budgets ensuring adequate budget planning, monitoring, and reporting to meet institutional goals.
Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field from an accredited college or university required. Minimum of ten (10) years progressively responsible budget and finance experience. Minimum of six (6) years in managing oversight of institutional budgets in a Higher Education environment. Ability to handle multiple projects and lead a high performing team of finance professionals. Strong analytical capabilities. Superior written, verbal, problem solving and communication skills. In-depth working knowledge of computerized accounting systems (Banner experience a plus). Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook). Preferred Qualifications CPA license Experience implementing multiple budgets for an academic medical center of $300M or more that involves managing multiple departments. Job Duties Description of Job Duty Plans, controls, directs, and evaluates compliance functions and performance in Finance under his/her direction. Works collaboratively with the Controller to ensure timely reporting. Coordinates completion of request from the school’s internal auditor related to the areas under his/her direction. Coordinates the improvement of Budgeting systems. Ensures that all accreditation reporting, surveys, and compliance reports are completed timely and accurately. Collaborate with the Controller to ensure available scholarship funds are provided to the scholarship committee. Work collaboratively with other leaders and colleagues to drive financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning. Collaborate with the Office of Institutional Advancement to provide the required level of scholarships needed annually. Performs various projects related to financial analysis, market research, industry landscape and planning initiatives Partners with leadership to develop strategic plans, financial targets, and goals aligned to the institution’s strategic plan. Performs analysis on financial data to identify trends and improvements. Complete financial statement ratios and provide monthly dashboards on budget and trends. Evaluates the impact of proposed regulatory action or changes to accounting standards. Enhances and/or develops, implements, and enforces policies and procedures by way of systems and processes that will improve the overall operations, efficiency, and effectiveness of the department. Evaluates department structure and team to help ensure continual improvement. Conducts projects, studies and analyses as assigned by the CFO. Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates process effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement.
