Responsibilities

Working as part of the design team, creates product based on the Shinola aesthetic, codes, values, and heritage. Develop a deep understanding of the past, current & future state of the Shinola Brand & products offerings. Assist Design Director in creating meaningful presentations that communicate seasonal trends and product direction. Develop an awareness of current culture / demographic trends, art, design trends, and competitive consumer goods / watch market. Develop a strong awareness of brand and product performance through sales and category sales analysis, as well stores feedback. Create 2D digital renderings based on seasonal need and line extension in collaboration with Product Development team and Merchandising team. Able to create targeted design, based on accomplishing real world, strategic business objectives. Develop color and materials selection by season / introduction in coordination with creative direction. Develop knowledge of design techniques, tools, construction and principals involved in production. Create accurate tech packs and review with Design Director before hand off to PD team. In collaboration with Design Director and Hong Kong team, responsible for monitoring & supporting the technical development of designs to ensure quality & design standards are understood. Participate in weekly meetings on design updates, project status and production updates / challenges.  Apply learnings from these meetings to daily product concepting. With Design Director, manage design process from concept to hand off to ensure all critical timelines and deadlines are met. Keep project managers updated on project/design status to ensuring projects are completed on time.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in graphic design, product design, or equivalent 2 years of design experience (watches/accessories experience preferred but not required) Sketching and free hand drawing desirable Systems proficiencies: 2D programs (Adobe Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc), 3D software skills (Solidworks preferred), Rendering software (Keyshot preferred). Able to explore ideas quickly and communicate them effectively through outside references and sketches.  Willing to enthusiastically create high quality work, whether developing your own concepts or the concepts of someone else.
