WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
As the Associated Director of Software Engineering, lead and direct software engineering practice within US Cash Management program. Build engineering community to educate, enable and empower software engineers. Provide a vision for the future of software engineering for the program and lead team to realize that vision.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Establish and help team adopt the best software engineering practiceIdentify technology and tools required to improve the efficiency of software engineeringEducate, enable and empower software and quality engineers on software engineeringFoster a engineering first, continuous and incremental delivery culture that focus on qualityBuild engineer community and create a sense of pride and belonging within engineering communityIdentify, manage and improve engineering KPIs with the aim to continuous improve engineering maturity within the teamContinuously improve the speed and quality of software deliverables by the teamCollaborate with RBC Enterprise DevOps and Engineering CoE to adopt and implement best engineering practice. Feedback into CoEs to improve software engineering within the bankWHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
You must be a passionate individual who is a driver and an influencer. You must be an expert level engineer who has \"seen it all\", and understands not only the theory of good engineering practice, but also has the practical and hands on experience to make the right judgement call and implement practical solutions to address engineering challenges.Impact is the key word here. You function within an organization where many of the engineers will not directly report to you, so manage through influence is a critical skill. You must be a bulldog who has the tenacity and perseverance needed to accomplish a goal against all odds. You must be a relationship builder who can earn the respect of engineers and help them do their jobs better. Extensive software engineering experience 10+ years, familiarity with best practice in software engineering and delivery methodology, passion for technologyPerseverance in face of challengesA passion, drive and conviction for the value of good engineeringThe soft skills to be a champion and influencerBurnings desire for practical but measurable change and impactNice-to-have
Relevant education in computer science or engineering related fieldPast experience in a influencer role within or outside professional field10+ years of experience in large and complex programs in progressive rolesRelevant banking industry experience, desired but not requiredWhat’s in it for you?
