Job Summary
Non-tenure track faculty members in the CNHP have primary responsibility in the area of teaching. This position has a 36 quarter credit workload with possible and negotiated additional buyout for significant administrative roles, scholarship, and clinical work. The CAT faculty member may have primary responsibility to the three MA programs and undergraduate courses for one of the four degree programs in the department. Service to the department, college, university and profession is expected as part of faculty work.
Essential Functions
Teaching and overseeing adjuncts for the counseling courses at the master’s and undergraduate levels Teaching classroom, studio, lab, tutorial, thesis/dissertation courses as assigned by the program director or department chair. Minimum teaching activity is 24 credits per year (totaling four quarters). Syllabus preparation, including syllabus revision for a) currency and alignment with most recent CACREP standards, b) improving courses based on student, self and supervisor input, and c) changes required by department, college or university administration. Timely evaluation of student work, including submission of grades by published university deadlines. Active engagement in the content of courses taught and developments in the knowledge base informing one’s courses. Availability to students for consultation and guidance. Hiring, supervising and onboarding adjunct instructors for courses Initiating and responding in communication as needed with program director and other faculty regarding student progress and other aspects of teaching. Management of the course online shell (BlackboardLearn) and E-reserves if applicable. Ordering books and/or procuring readings for course. Thesis and/or dissertation advisement as assigned. Clinical May be asked to provide clinical supervision of graduate students, and engage in faculty clinical practice as appropriate for workload Service and Scholarship Service and/or leadership of departmental committees and with special projects. Submission of proposals for papers and presentations in order to disseminate one’s work and strengthen the profile of the program/department in broad professional communities. The faculty member is also expected to engage in annual self-evaluations and actively contribute to mandatory events like orientation, graduation, community gatherings as well as other duties as assigned. Administrative Responsibilities include contributing to the overall work and mission of the department and the college through participation in meetings, tasks as assigned, supporting the work of others on the faculty and staff as needed, accountability and timely responsiveness to students, and their educational needs and for related administrative tasks. Participating in student recruitment, promotional and admissions processes as requested. Completion of forms to support alumni applications for state counseling licensure. Dissemination of information regarding state counseling licensure updates and 1:1 meetings to advise current students of same. Other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Creative Arts Therapies Specialty Disciplines 3+ Years of Relevant Experience Evidence of least three years of exemplary teaching experience in a college or university setting, preferably with graduate students in the creative arts therapies Documented record of (or readiness for) making professional level contributions to the creative arts therapies at the national or regional levels in scholarship, service, and/or leadership activities Experience working with master’s students in therapy training venues or programs Leadership qualities and excellent oral and written communication skills are requiredPreferred Qualifications
Doctorate preferred (including but not limited to counselor education and supervision) Excellent organizational and time-management skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on an academic team Proficient in Microsoft applications and the ability to learn new technology as needed to facilitate educational and advisory responsibilitiesPhysical Requirements

This is a full-time Faculty position classified as Exempt. The salary offered is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
