Responsibilities Oak Plains Academy (a UHS company) **Exciting opportunity with a locally based adolescent facility. Oak Plains Academy is looking for people who want to make a difference in the lives of youth as a Assistant Director of Residential Serivces (ADRS). The ADRS manages and is accountable for the overall milieu care of residents. Directly supervises the Shift Supervisors and Mental Health Associates. Ensures that staff are following and implementing the program, unit schedules, and adhering to Oak Plains Academy’s policies and procedures. The Assistant Director of Residential Services must be resourceful and flexible to meet the ever-changing needs of the department, the hospital, and duties assigned by the Director of Residential Services (DRS). Provides administrative support to the DRS for staff development and other departmental needs. Work closely with facility leadership in coordinating an effective, efficient scheduling pattern. The ideal candidate will be patient, accepting, and compassionate and have a true desire to help children. The candidate is someone who can adhere to strict guidelines for our policies regarding supervision of the youth in our care. We are seeking someone who can adapt to flexible schedules and is passionate about helping youth with mental health and behavioral problems. Oak Plains Academy is a comprehensive and highly structured 98-bed residential treatment program offering psychiatric residential treatment services to children and adolescents, struggling with emotional and behavioral issues. Residents receive an individualized treatment plan, geared to meet their personal needs. A professional team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, therapists, nurses, and teachers serve hundreds of children and adolescents annually with the common goal of treating and healing trauma and building resiliency in the residents we serve. Qualifications Key Responsibilities: Provides direction and oversight of the operation of milieu staff assignments and program fidelity. Closely monitors all interactions and behaviors (staff and residents) to ensure an environment and culture which is safe and conducive to positive change. Coordinates with other disciplines to ensure continuity of treatment. Completes required documentation, shift paperwork, and audits as needed. Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns. Response to crisis and assists in the proper implementation of protective holds in a timely manner and ensures proper notification and documentation is completed. Staff supervision, interview of new candidates for employment, supervision and competency reviewed with assigned employees and documentation completed per regulatory guidelines. Addresses complaints and resolves problems in a timely manner. Conducts progressive discipline and coaching as needed. Actively participates in committee/programs as directed. Manages shift overtime by utilizing the PRN pool and reviewing payroll reports for accuracy and timely submission. Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: this role requires a through background check including fingerprinting, local and federal government check and drug and employment verification. Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education or related field or a technical degree in areas of allied health.(Preferred) Minimum:High School Diploma or equivalent plus at least three years leadership and experience in mental health with demonstrable competence in required knowledge and responsibilities.
