Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Assistant Director for our Post Intensive Care Unit I at the New Brunswick campus.

Post Intensive Care I is a 34 bed cardiac unit with telemetry, medical surgical and intermediate care patients.

RWJ University Hospital is the primary teaching hospital of the RWJ Barnabas health system, and is one of three Level 1 trauma centers in the state of NJ. Qualifications:

Required:

BSNAt least 2-3 years leadership/charge/preceptor experience as a Registered NurseStrong communication, organizational skills, and presentation skills

Preferred:

MSN or must be enrolled in MSN program nearing completionBSN exception if the candidate meets other requirements and is actively pursuing a bachelor s degree; the completion of the degree is expected within 5 years of acceptance of the position.National Board Certification

Certifications and Licenses Required:

BLS and ACLS CertificationActive New Jersey Registered Nurse License

Scheduling Requirements:

Day Shift3 shifts per week in staffing as Head Nurse, 7a-730pm, with 8hr office day per pay period, FT

Essential Functions:

Development/Management of PersonnelFacilitates the safe and effective functioning of the unit as demonstrated by: Interviewing and hiring unlicensed personnel. Interviewing and hiring licensed personnel in collaboration with Nursing DirectorFacilitates the orientation process for new employees as demonstrated by: Making assignments that maintain preceptor-orientee relationshipWorking with the preceptor-orientee to solve any problemsEnsuring that orientees complete the unit-based orientation within an appropriate individualized time frameContributes to the professional growth and development of staff by: Continuously assessing patient care to evaluate staff knowledge and patterns of performanceCounseling staff on identified areas for improvementEvaluating the staff performance as demonstrated by the completion of the performance evaluation in a timely mannerCounseling and implementing appropriate disciplinary actionPlanning/coordinating unit based education programs as identified by unit needsConsiders staff participation in safety/quality initiatives when completing employee performance appraisals
