**Description:** **JOB ANNOUNCEMENT** **ASSISTANT GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT** **DEPARTMENT OF STREETS & SANITATION** **Number of Positions: 2** **(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)** **Starting Salary:** **$** **99,456; Grade BX-20** **Applications for this position will be accepted until 11:59 pm CDT on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.** Under direction, assists General Superintendent in managing the operations of a bureau responsible for infrastructure programs, and performs related duties as required **ESSENTIAL DUTIES** · ​ Assists in developing and aligning organizational objectives and program goals to enhance operational efficiency and improve service delivery for Chicago residents. + Evaluates field operations, conducting assessments to measure program effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency, and prepares detailed performance reports. + Provides leadership to field supervisors, ensuring the seamless implementation of new policies, procedures, and best practices within the department. + Coordinates with supervisors to monitor daily operations, manage citywide events, address emergency situations, and ensure the timely achievement of departmental goals. + Collaborates with departmental managers to implement and manage new infrastructure projects, citywide events, and team-oriented initiatives. + Represents the Department of Streets and Sanitation at community meetings, delivering information on departmental services, programs, and initiatives. + Oversees personnel and union matters, ensuring compliance with labor agreements and addressing employee concerns in a timely manner. + Identifies opportunities to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and implement strategies for continuous operational improvements. _Additional duties may be required for this position_ **Location:** **Varies** **Days/Hours:** **Varies (some occasional nights)** **THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM CAREER SERVICE.** **Qualifications:** **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a directly related field, plus five (5) years of work experience in surface transportation infrastructure, sanitation operations, towing operations OR forestry operations, of which three (3) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience **Disclaimer - "Accredited" means any nationally or regionally accredited college, university, or law school where the applicant is enrolled in or has completed an Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or Juris Doctorate degree program.** **_NOTE: You must provide your transcripts or diploma at time of processing._** **SELECTION REQUIREMENTS** This position requires applicants to complete an interview.
